Prices for Idina's concert at the PNC Arts Center have been drastically reduced. You can get really good seats for $20-$30. Go on Ticketmaster and you can see every seat available. Great opportunity to see Idina at very reasonable prices.

Conclusions to be drawn?  Over-priced for the target audience demographic?  Over-estimation of her appeal beyond niche?  Or just inadequate marketing mixed with performance saturation/timing?

Hard to say. PNC is a large venue, and it's not her only tri-state appearance. Her performance here in Orlando (in about a 3,000 seat venue) has been sold out for quite some time. Maybe too many appearances in the NY/NJ/CT/PA area? In addition to Mohegan Sun she also has Jones Beach, Atlantic City, the Sands in PA, and a night in Philadelphia.

I do see them for $20+ on Goldstar for July 12th.

I thought they were way overpriced. My friend and I debated going and were turned off by ticket prices.

I think if she had gone on tour right at the height of Frozen mania instead of staying with If/Then on Broadway she could've commanded the higher prices.

As such she's a wonderful performer who has never headlined major venues before. That's usually something you have to work your way up to, not just jump right into.

The fact that people in New Jersey have had an easy train ride into NY to see her on Broadway for the past year probably doesn't help either.

Also, she did that concert at Radio City last year. I went to that, and so I have no interest in seeing her in concert again so soon, especially if I have to travel to Jersey. And I saw If/Then multiple times.

I hope the tour does well in the international locations, but it doesn't surprise me it's not selling well in the tri state.

Who are they trying to attract by having a concert all the way out in New Jersey?  Certainly not Brooklyn/Queens/Bronx residents, or Long Island residents.  I don't even think it's walking distance from a NJ Transit train stop for people in Manhattan who happen to live near Penn Station.  With all the venues available that are public-transit accessible (Barclays Center, Hammerstein Ballroom, Beacon Theater, MSG, Irving Plaza, Gramercy Theater, etc), why are they surprised that nobody's making the schlep to NJ ?  Could have had a wonderful concert at the intimate Irving Plaza, steps from the N/R/Q/4/5/6/L trains in the heart of Union Sqwuare.

Where are the $20-$30 seats you are referring to in the venue?  I looked via Ticketmaster and there aren't any discount seats showing.

Did you spot those discounted seats via a promo code?

UM maybe some of the 9 million NJ residents, the most densely populated state in the country. We don't put on events to solely attract NYC audiences. I can understand Papermill Playhouse attracting NYC audiences, as it's an easy commute. But an outdoor central NJ concert venue is not putting on an Idina Menzel concert to attract residents of NYC.

I agree that concerts in AC and Philly are not helping the sales for this show.

The just hover over the seats on the map  and you can see the prices (on a regular computer) , I got $ 99 tickets 14th row center from the stage. All the tickets in the sections behind the first are at $ 20 or $ 30. These tickets were over 100 a few weeks ago . I almost did not go to this show because of the prices. Did see the Radio City show. On the map you can see there are tons of tickets available. Looks like they are starting to sell , because a few weeks ago it was really bad. PNC Arts center in on the Nj Parkway. The venue holds 17,500 capacity

I don't care how well known on BW a performer is, if they don't have a track record on the concert tour it's risky to think they are going easily fill 10-15K plus capacity venues at top dollar prices.

I would imagine some of the other concert venues are more intimate than the NJ site.

I doubt she's losing sleep over a few undersold venues here and there. Really, I thought the number of concert stops she's putting on this year is oversaturated, but the "international" part has really been capturing attention on social media, especially from countries she had never visited before, or rarely.

Supposedly the first Tokyo show sold out so quickly that more shows were added for that venue (seen in a tweet), which has a capacity of 14.5k. Maybe there were shenanigans going on, but who knows. I believe it was the Ireland stop that sold out first, and that has a pretty intimate capacity of 2k. I don't know what the ticket prices have been for these international venues, though.

Not bad for a Broadway chick, though undoubtedly Frozen mania still has influence (e.g. back injury from lifting an Elsa-costumed girl in Manila).

Saw her at George Street Playhouse and Count Basie Theatre.  I can't stand the Arts  Center since they revamped it.

FYI, shuttle buses take you there from the Matawan Train Station on the NJ Coast Line.

Idina Menzel Tickets in NJ new lower prices#16
Posted: 6/23/15 at 11:17pm

Certain markets do better than others; the If/Then run and Radio City probably influenced the east coast performance a bit!

Mohegan Sun and Atlantic City are both sold out (along with several others). And yes, Tokyo sold out almost immediately and they added a second show.

Venues range 1,500-18,000. :)

These are all smart answers.  The crowds in Tokyo or Orlando haven't had ongoing access to Menzel's performances like those in the tri-state area.  It's safe to say, she's cleaning up on the tour. One of the smartest career moves ever.  There's no better money to be had.
