I vividly remember the hype surrounding Mamet' s snorefest "The Anarchist". The only good thing about that dog was that it was mercifully short. If I recall correctly, there were no expletives. How the **** can you have a Mamet play without them?
Since Al Pacino is leading this do you think this will be a tough ticket, or since it doesn't really seem like a flashy play do you think it will play like The River where it sold well but you could still manage an inexpensive ticket. I'm asking this because I'm wondering when I should buy the tickets for this show.

1 week short of a 4 month run plus Pacino
It will be hot since it him and Mamet. Looks like these short runs will now be the norm rather than the exception .Good reasons to Jack up prices. The scalpers will have a field day.

If you look at the show's schedule you will see that not only is it a short run, but there are fewer performances than is typical, so there are fewer opportunities to see it which will only increase demand. It looks like Pacino has some other obligations or is taking extra days off here and there.
If you are only available to see it before New Years, I would buy tickets sooner rather than later. If you are available during the slow season in January and February, you can probably afford to wait on the tickets since there will be fewer people looking for tickets during the slow season.

Wasn't looking but thanks.
He is Pacino so he can set his own schedule and producers have to work around it. It just means if they see a big demand they will simply jack up prices further. No idea what the show is about & if the producers plan a replacement or if it is done when Pacino leaves.
It cannot be any worse than The Anarchist.

I can see the show whenever, because I only live about 45 minutes away from the city so I'll take your advice. Thank you! P.S. At least it doesn't seem like the prices are extremely high at this point, so maybe I'll take an early jump on them.
David Mamet, Al Pacino, and the incredible Pam MacKinnon directing make China Doll a must see for me, but I'll have to wait and hope that they announce a standing room policy, because even the mezzanine seats are $80+ a ticket.
And I agree, JPeterman, the artwork is terrific!
I'd see anything directed by Pam McKinnon. And I totally agree with ooblogway above, the biggest issue with THE ANARCHIST was the direction... and that Mamet only wrote half of a play.
