They asked me how many I wanted and I said I was ready to buy two or three tickets. They had three tickets right next to each other in the row B. They didn't have four. They had three. They told me I needed an extra person to buy three tickets, so I went outside and grabbed my daughter. Done.

When getting in the line at 5 AM, I was not aware I could only buy two tickets, and we were three people. I was also not aware of this PERCEIVED rule that every person in your party who is buying tickets should be in line from the start. Once I figured that out, I asked my daughter to come out there.

"

I do want to defend what I wrote and add some context.  But let me start by saying I did enjoy my line experience, and genuinely had good conversation with you and the gentleman behind me which made my wait more enjoyable.

You were absolutely committed to the process and acquiring the tickets that day, and it was cold, really cold.  But you did explain to your wife and daughter that someone needed to join you in line once you found out (very early on) that you could only buy 2 tickets yourself.  You went back to the hotel early to get your blanket, but your daughter chose not to come back with you, she arrived at around 10am once there were quite a number of people in line.

The lady from Texas a few behind us at first was upset, but then decided (I think) that as a result of that she was going have someone else join her in line too.  (Again, I think that was the case but I'm not 100% sure).

If your daughter was as committed to the process as you were she should have probably come to join you soon after you messaged her, but she didn't, she took about 2.5 hours.

Anyway, my desire going into the morning was that I got tickets and was able to watch the show.  That happened and I was very grateful.

Scott Rosson said: "Hi all, wanted to give my experience today because it was slightly different from what you usually see in this thread. I got in the cancellation line around 2:10 today. I was second and the guy in front of me arrived 30 mins prior. We waited in line for about an hour and a third person joined us. She waits for about 10 minutes and decides to go talk to the box office. She walks out with two tickets for the January 10th evening performance. I decided to check the box office and they sold me an orchestra seat for the January 10th Matinee for $229. I had no idea this was an option. I guess the moral of the story is check with the box office if your schedule is flexible!"

Thank you so much for posting this information, I didn't know it was a possibility either. You inspired me to try the same thing! I went the Richard Rodgers theater yesterday (Friday) around noon and there was no one in the cancellation line. I walked into the box office and asked if there were any tickets available for this upcoming week. The guy working at the ticket window told me there was availability on Tuesday and Wednesday because of cancellations, so I ended up buying a ticket for the Wed matinee show at face value ($229). I'm sure it helped that I was only looking for a single ticket. My seat is in the left orchestra, and the guy told me it's a good seat. I'm excited and shocked and grateful I was able to just walk in and buy a ticket!

I think your experience can vary based on who is working that day, so it might be worth it to try more than once and at different times of the day. My friends and I had tried to walk into the box office earlier this month one late weekday afternoon (there were a few people in the cancellation line at that point) and a guy working there rushed up before we could even open the door. We were looking for information on ticket availability, etc. He essentially shooed us away, not wanting to give much info, just "wait in the cancellation line and you might get a ticket." I'm sure he was busy or something so I don't really blame him. Then last week I tried calling the box office one afternoon to ask for info and had a similar experience--the woman who answered seemed to be having a bad day or was also super busy or something, because she was very short with me, used a tone like I was a dumbass to even ask about tickets, and rushed me off the phone. But then Friday when I walked into the box office both employees were super polite and pleasant. The employee who greeted me when I first entered was chill, didn't rush up to shoo me away. She wished me luck and directed me to talk with the guy at the ticket window, who happily sold me a ticket for Wednesday. It was an awesome experience. Just wanted to share all this in case it can help someone. I'm very thankful to everyone else who shared info on this forum--it helped me!

Just wanted to share my line experience. Went to the matinee of waitress on Saturday 1/20. After the show so around 4:30 my friends and I went to check out the Hamilton cancellation line. There were 11 people inline. We only wanted to do standing room and knew they have them few and far between but we figured since it wasn’t freezing out we would give it a shot. Around 1:30 I went and asked at the box office about standing room and was told the usual answer we never know if we have them till last minute. When I went back at 4:30 there was someone different so I ask him and got a very rude “We never well standing room to the public EVER!!” I challenged him saying that’s not what another person told me 3 hours ago and I know people that have gotten standing room before. He responded with the same rude answer. And said they changed it last week. Not believing him we decided to stick it out and wait. At 6:45 the first set of ppl got cancellation tickets. Then there was nothing till 7:30 when another set got. The woman in front of us got of line because her daughter was able to get cancellation tickets for DEH. So there were now 6 ppl left. At 7:45 they started calling in more ppl till everyone in front of us had tickets! The guy came out and said “next people for cancellation tickets” when I informed him although we were next we only wanted standing room. He said we don’t have any standing room. It was now 8:00. They had us get off the line so the people behind us could get through. My friends said ok let’s go but I insisted we wait till 8:05 he came back and said ok next people these two tickets are standing room. Thanksfully we were still standing next to the barricade and the person behind us knew we only wanted standing room. So two of the 4 of us got to see the show!! Moral of the story is never believe what they say till they say there’s no more tickets left period! Also when I was going in I heard the guy from the box office tell the guy they was taking people offline that they did have cancellation tickets for the next day. So it’s worth asking about if you are online and don’t get tickets for the current show.

Hey does anyone have any current information for Hamilton cancellation line in regard to when to line up? I've read posts that say by 8am for matinees (or even earlier 5:30am) and 12 pm for evening, but all of those suggestions are from mid 2017 or earlier. Has anyone lined up in Dec 2017 or January? My wife and I are looking to line up either friday 2nd of Jan or Saturday 3rd of Feb. I saw that the evening show on Saturday is sold out so I'm not sure if Saturday will be worth the extra long wait. Any help would be appreciated although I've already read the feed, (and several other articles) just looking for more up to date info.

I will try asking about tickets when we arrive in NYC on Monday or Tuesday probably but we leave on the 5th so we know we may have to wait in line and are happy to do so.

Never posted before but have been reading this board for almost a year so wanted to share how it all worked out!  We had tickets to the Thursday, Jan 25 (bought when they were released last year) show but my sister and brother in law wanted to join us.  Having read this board for so long I felt like an expert!  My sister in law arrived at the box office at 10:30 a.m. prepared to stay all day if necessary.  She was the only person in line.  I think that fact that it was pretty cold might have kept people away?  At 11:00 an agent came out and offered the premier seats for $749.  She said no.  10 minutes later the same agent came out and offered 6th row. left orchestra for $230.  She bought her two tickets and was on her way home by 11:15!

Hey everyone!
I went to the box office to check if they knew about standing room tickets for tonight and the attendant said they were all reserved for the cast and don’t sell to the public. I’m not sure whether or not to believe him but also don’t want to waste an hour and a half of my life if he wasn’t just being rude. Has anyone gotten SRO very very recently?

I didn't end up waiting for a ticket, but asked about them this weekend. Was told basically was the board says - cast members gets first dibs and often claim them all, but any unclaimed are sold to the cancellation line. by my estimation, they have 2-3 tickets about a third of the time

My experience on cancellation tickets:

I went on 02/08 to purchase cancellation tickets. Given prior comments on this thread, I just walked straight into the box office at ~12:30pm and inquired if they had any cancellation tickets available within the next two weeks, clarifying that I would purchased 1-2 tickets. After checking to ensure no one was waiting in the cancellation line outside, they offered me (2) separated seats for that Saturday's performance 2/10 at $229/ticket. Seats are ORCH Center G110 and ORCH Left P5.

I could not be more excited! The only better option (financially) seemed to be waiting for SRO at $40-69(?)/ticket, but it seems like it was not enough of a guarantee to justify the wait.

Was on the way to dinner with my Valentine last night (2-14-201Line and slowed down as we were walking past Hamilton. A NYPD officer noticed us slow and said “really short cancellation line (4), tonight’s your night if you are interested.” It was about 6:45, so we canceled our 7PM dinner reservation.

About 7:30 someone from the box office came out and took the first person on line. A few minutes later someone came up to the line and asked if anyone needed a single ticket. He gave (free) an extra ticket to a woman behind us (row B in the balcony) about 6:45. By 7:55 my Valentine and I were comfortably seated alongside several of our new line friends in Row F of the center orchestra.

The show was AMAZING!

Hi!  I live in Seattle and saw the Hamilton tour last night.  It was brilliant, powerful, and lived up to all the hype.  I would love to go back.  Does anyone know if Seattle has a cancellation line?

Just walked into the Box Office about an hour or two ago (Monday, 2/19) and asked about cancellation tickets for this week. Walked out with Orchestra Right H2 and H4 for Wednesday night. Clearly worth checking if you're passing by...

I was walking by Richard Rogers on Wed 21st at 5:15PM...AND THERE WERE ONLY 6 PEOPLE IN LINE! I had seen the orig cast but my daughter and her friend hadn't so I figured I would get in line. I texted them and they brought me a snack and we waited. At 5:30 2 people left. At 6:15 a pair of tickets came out. So now I was 3rd in line at 5:15. I had been in the line that morning at 10am and it had about 25 people and I was 13th. After an hour I left because the weather was just too nice to stay! I was standing there in line as the matinee got out and I saw lots of my line buddies! I chatted with a few and found out everyone got in! Two I spoke with got $40 standing tix and other paid $229 for best orch seats.

My daughter and friend got called in with the rest of the line around 7:50. they got 7th row, orch center(like dead center!) for $229 each. In an amazing story...I was offerd a free seat by a couple that had an extra! I saw in 12th row, Orch center-not far behind my daughter!

I can say after having seen the orig cast I was nervous it would still deliver that punch-----WORRY NOT! It was epic and I almost thought 'Lin who???' because our new Alexander is amazeballs!!!!!

Hello all! Bumping this as there hasn't been any experience updates in quite a few weeks. Wondering whether anyone's tried the line or just walking up recently?

I'm getting into town this Wednesday in the early evening so, unless we get insanely lucky with the lottery or a last-minute Ticketmaster/Stubhub price drop for that evening, our first chance to see the show is Saturday afternoon (we've got Angels tix for Thursday and Friday). We're planning on stopping by the BO on those days to see if they have any already available for the Sat or Sun matinees (also already have tix for shows Sat and Sun eve), but if not, we're planning on getting out there early on Saturday to wait. I know there's been crappy weather recently so it's harder to judge, but has anyone noticed when people have started lining up recently?

I'd appreciate any input you guys have! I was able to go to the LA tour stop, but wasn't able to get two tickets, so my mom has yet to see it. Thanks!!

My wife and i are planning on getting on line one Saturday in NYC soon (Not sure which one, we live in northern NJ so we'll play it by ear).  We'll see either matinee or evening.  What's the current news on the earliest we should get there on a Saturday this time of year to be pretty much guaranteed tickets at for either show (not premium or SRO)?

Hi everyone! Also was interested in doing the cancellation line sometime this week. About what time should I arrive to box office on a weekday to sort of guarantee seats? Thank you -- any and all info is appreciated!

I'd been checking this thread for the last few months before my visit this past weekend and got a lot of helpful tips, despite no one having any recommendations or info for the month prior to my actual visit. BUT! I can share my experience with the cancellation line which was this past Saturday, 4/14.

My mom and I were staying at a hotel at 48th and 8th so we were only a couple blocks up from the theater. We already had 6 tickets for other shows for Thursday - Sunday so we were really banking on getting tix for the matinee that day, since we couldn't try again. We had stopped by on Thursday to see if they happened to have any they could sell to us then, but they only had one so we passed and said we'd try the line. My mom asked something about the time to get there and she said when she gets in at 9:30 there's usually only about 5 people or so. BUT, NYC has had crazy-bad weather recently and this past Saturday was forecast to be the first warm day in months. We weren't risking it.

Saturday, we woke up at 6:30, got some coffee, and headed down to the theater just before 7. There were two line sitters ahead of us, but that was to be expected. Around 7:15 another woman showed up. By 8, there were another 5 or 6. There were probably about 16 by the time the box office actually opened, so I'm glad I trusted my instincts on timing for getting down there. So the BO was now open so we wait. And wait. And wait. A guy comes out confirming that we don't want premium tickets. People who don't know the drill ask him about those and one older couple actually bites and heads in with him around 11. They still haven't pulled anyone in for actual cancellation tickets by 11:15 and one old school line sitter tells the newbie line sitter that this is really unusual. This makes my mom and I a little nervous since it seems like most people wouldn't miss a weekend matinee on a nice day. Finally they come out offering a pair just after 11:30 and pull the first line sitter in. The other actually goes with him because they were actually trying to get 3 for the same clients and were able to work something out with the venue. The theater came out with a single at about 11:45, which most of the line passed on until it got to about the 14th girl in line who took it.

FINALLY, just before noon, the guy leans around the corner and crooks his finger at us. We go in and the lady confirms that we want two and tells us the price (the usual $229 each). Mom hands over her card and I ask her where the seats are and she says "second row, center orchestra". I started hearing circus music and told her she was my favorite. It was absolutely amazing. I saw it from the 6th row Orchestra Left in LA with the same Hamilton (Michael Luwoye, so GOOD) but was only able to get one ticket so my mom still hadn't seen it until now. She loved it and agreed that the 5 hours waiting was absolutely worth it for those seats.

The weather turned bad again right before we left the city, but I'd say there's going to be more and more people waiting early as the sun starts shining more. You're never gonna beat the line sitters (these two got there at midnight and 1:30am) but just bring a couple jackets (one to sit on, those steps are hard and cold) and just people-watch. There were two kids sat next to us on the end of the aisle who were also in the cancellation line, but I'm not sure exactly how far back because the middle section turned into less of a line than a group, but they were at least 10 people back and they got in.

Hope this excess of info helps! It kind of just boils down to: if you're willing to wait, it's gonna pay off. If you REALLY want to see it, don't risk it and just show up early. Good luck!

I'll share my experience with the NYC line from Yesterday, Friday 4/20/18

My wife and i got there about 1:30 and we were the 11th & 12th in line as far as tickets (we were 9 and 10 but two people were buying 2 tickets each)

I found out that the last person before me got there around 11 so we would have had to get there at 10 to get any closer.

The first three people got tickets around 4-5:00.  After that no more for a while.  They moved us to the side of the theater around 7:00 (curtain was 8:05).

At this point, we were #8 and 9.  I wasn't too concerned as i had heard that the most tickets become available in the hour prior to showtime and that's what happened here.  They started letting people from my line in slowly one group at a time.  I was a little concerned at 7:45 - 20 minutes before curtain, we were 2nd and 3rd but we got in and sat down about 1 minute before showtime. - Row F center orchestra!  We couldn't have asked for better seats!

Fantastic show and definitely worth the wait.  My advice to anyone is to pick a weekday but don't cut it as close as i did.  Show up no later than 10AM and you're pretty much guaranteed to get in.  Keep in mind that i imagine this may change as the weather gets warmer.  It was chilly yesterday so i'm sure that kept some people away.

So I have been following this since the beginning but yesterday was my first time trying. I got to the theater at 6:30 PM for the wednesday evening show. I was seventh in line. Within 30 minutes of arriving, the first person was sold a ticket. Then by 7:30 PM, the next two were taken in to buy tickets. The next tickets were all sold one at a time starting at about 7:50 PM. The woman ahead of me was taken in around 7:58 PM and they came for me around 8:02 PM. I was trying to wait it out for SRO tickets because the officer who works there said they still VERY OCCASIONALLY have them if all of the cast/crew don't use them for family and friends that night. I wasn't *needing* to see the show, so I took the risk waiting I sent the woman behind me in my place and she was the last to be sold a ticket. So they had at least 7. My experience may have been an anomaly, but if someone was visiting and really wanted to see the show, I really didn't wait that long.

I will mention that while the officer was very friendly and gave good insight, the man who was taking people to the box office seemed very annoyed when I mentioned I was wanting to try for SRO.

That IS an unusually short wait.  Was this in NYC?  So, i take it you passed on the show due to no SRO, but you COULD have bought a ticket, right?  I wonder if you had the same officer we did.  He was also very friendly and was glad to answer any questions we had.

Yeah, it was NYC. I did pass, they did not offer SRO. I would have been able to buy a ticket but I would have been the last person.

Basically all the tickets of the cancellation line costs around U$229?

Also, I will be going to try this in October, like middle of the month, do you guys think it will be better or worse to get tickets?

Yes $229.  I would think october would be a good time as the weather should be cooler and the kids will be back in school so that may keep a lot of people away.  Just get there as early as possible and be prepared to sit there all day.  There are bathrooms in the Marriott next door and places around where you can get something to eat.  The cop that talked to us said Tuesdays and Thursdays are the best days to try.
