I love CZJ.
I so wish she would come back to Broadway.
I also love CZJ and she would be killer in this but...Kander wants La Audra...or is it La McDonald? So I guess that's that?

That made me laugh out loud.
Wasn't there a fuss that you were/are a teenager? If so how are you so familiar with the book from this musical?
That being said I have great memories seeing both Chita Rivera and Vanessa Williams. I don't recall if any of the dancing was changed from one to the other but not sure if Willams was considered a dancer?
Would love to see this show again.

leave it to Audra she would redefine the role and her put her own stamp on it...hopefully, we'll see her first in Night Mother during the 2015-2016 season followed by Kiss in the 2016-2017 all sounds exciting but nothing is definite for a Broadway run.

Oh don't get me wrong. I love Audra to Reese's Pieces...it just caught me off guard but I'm sure with the masters at hand in charge of the re-tooling and in Audra's hands it could possibly work.

Oh I'm excited about Audra.
I love the show and I love Audra.
I was just commenting on CZJ because someone mentioned earlier they thought the consensus was that she ruined Night Music.
I thought she was great in ALNM.

I, too, also thought CZJ was wonderful in NIGHT MUSIC and would be a sensational Aurora.
I'd rather see Audra's Caroline at this point.

IMO, Vanessa wasn't that great. She didn't have the mystery that Chita had and her dancing wasn't up to the role.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

After the Tony performance maybe. I don't really recall it being TOO negative before then (not everyone was a fan).
Anyway, those two male leads are PERFECT for this. I personally would prefer CZJ because the score isn't going to be very fun without a bit of belting. This is a role CZJ was born to play!

I've read the script from Samuel French, seen a regional production, and have read El beso de la mujer araña, which is far superior to the script of the show. Just my thoughts.

Ugh. Hope this doesn't go further than the workshop. Composers - however talented they may be - aren't always the best at selecting the creative teams/casting. I mean, look at Sondheim's appreciation for those dreadful John Doyle revivals. I think it's sad that that we'd get a Kiss with much less dancing. It's not a meaty "book" role. It's primarily a song & dance role. And Audra is obviously phenomenally talented, but she's hardly silver screen star glamorous. Not to mention how shrill her voice can get when "belting" non operatic stuff.
Oh, and, FWIW, I loathed CZJ in Night Music, but think she'd be sensational in KISS.

She just pops out every once in a while and sings and leaves... and she does need to exude sex. Which is not Audra. I thought Chita was too old for the part even back then. It needs a really sexy Latina lady. Sophia Vergara would be great. I can see Alan Cumming in the role.

Age breakdown is 40-50's she was in her late 50's and surely commanded the stage with sex appeal and dancing perfection!
