I am ecstatic as well...It deserves to be preserved it was just THAT GREAT. I see an Emmy in Miss Audra's horizon.
It's handled.
I do wish they had filmed it at Circle in the Square, though. But any taping is better than none, she was so amazing in this...
You guys! Santa ACTUALLY does listen. I went to the mall, sat on his lap, asked for this, and now it's happening!
"I never had theatre producers run after me. Some people want to make more Broadway shows out of movies. But Elliot and I aren't going to do Batman: The Musical." - Julie Taymor 1999
One of the great performances. So happy it will be preserved.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

Don't the HBO shows end up on DVD at some point?
700 Sundays in DVD, yes. Usually not Blu-Ray, you have to buy a digital copy for HD, or you know, figure out how to download an HD version the day after it airs through more sordid channels.
Isn't HBO starting a streaming service soon?
This will probably be on there.

....but the world goes 'round

Came out of the blue.
I thought it would be done @ Circle. No clue it was being done in new Orleans.
Used to be able to get it off TV & burn it to dvd. No more. You can dvr it but that is it.

I'm not sure which I'm sadder about: the fact I don't get HBO as part of my cable plan, or the fact this is being filmed in my neck of the woods and there's no way I can get tickets (according to nola.com, they were 'privately distributed').

I have so many dvds now I will never be able to watch them I am not a big advocate of having to get HD. If I could burn it to a dvd fine. I cannot so I am content with seeing it live.

It's nice to have it on an actual DVD, that's all. I got a new cable box a few weeks ago that's much faster, and has a ton of space. But, I had to give up my DVR that had Carousel on it. Lincoln Center doesn't sell it, and I wish I could have copied it to a DVD.

That is the big downside of DVR. If you have stuff stored on it & you have to replace it you are out of luck. DVD may be antiquated but it is a physical copy you have.

I used to just order HBO for one day when there was something that I wanted to watch on it and then cancel it the next day. That way there was only a charge of like 50 cents or something like that on the bill. Not sure if you can still do that, but it's worth trying.
Excellent. Very good news. My fingers are crossed that this doesn't get fouled up in translation to TV.

I don't think it is pro-rated anymore. You pay for the month, and even if you cancel it, you would still have access to the rest of that month. That's how Netflix does it, too. I only join when House of Cards or Orange Is The New Black has a new season.
