With the reviews it got, does anyone see this getting any nominations at all come award season, or is it going to be forgotten completely?

...no production can completely ruin all that is delightful, dense and dazzling in Stoppard’s work...

Those two reviews are so different. NY Times said he liked Nixon, but the am NY said he hated her. Hm. Either way, not good.

Jeremy Gerard review on Deadline. I guess I would call it a negative review.

I'm in the minority, but ... while I appreciated aspects of both of the prior New York productions, I've never understood the widespread embrace of this play in the US, in terms of revisiting it frequently. Or more directly, why anyone thought we needed another edition in 2014, so soon after the last one. As always, a middling production of any play can make the original text seem less enthralling. (Remember the NIGHT MOTHER revival, which managed to dilute the power almost entirely, with two actors whose acting styles weren't remotely in sync.)

Well, for once, Brantley and I saw the same play. His reaction was pretty much mine.
Liked the production I saw in 2000.Am a subscriber so I'll be seeing it and I guess I will stop loking at the reviews..

Loved the reviewer who said the set reminded her/him of IKEA
The set makes it harder to understand those seeing it for the first time. The set stays the same so you have no idea what is part of the play in a play & what is not.

I'm with you, Auggie. I've never liked it, not the original or the revival in 2000.
Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)
I loved the original. I've been a Stoppard admirer since plays like Rosenkrantz, The Real Inspector Hound, and Jumpers.
I thought the original Real Thing was step more emotional than his other plays. Maybe it was just the chemistry of that cast.
I'm sorry--sad, actually--that this one seems to be a disappointment.
