Oddest sentence from Playbill: "The revival will be based on the original conception and choreography of Jerome Robbins, who won a 1965 Tony Award for his direction and choreography of the musical, and will feature choreography by Israeli-born artist Hofesh Shechter." Based on the original choreography but with new choreography?
Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.
Maybe like how the PIPPIN revival was done? Based on he style of and using some of the same moves as Fosse, but not an exact replica?

How can they do a revival without a star? And why the need to revive this show? Makes no sense to me. Can they get Cher instead of Sher to do it?

How can they do a revival without a star? With taste and integrity hopefully. BTW did South Pacific have a huge star? Did Pippin?
Having said that, there is a big star I would love to see as Golde opposite Danny, not that she would be likely to do it, but because I think she'd nail it! Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

South Pacific was at a non-profit. Pippin had never been revived before on Broadway. Two completely different situations.
Get Cher the singer to star in it, and it would do far better than having Sher as the director!

Again. How many times has On the Town been revived? And how would you say it's doing so far at the box office?
I have no idea about the box office. But I do know that many revivals have been successful and recouped without a star. You seem to be of the opinion that that is impossible, and it's obviously not. Also, there have only been 2 revivals of ON THE TOWN and those revivals did not get half the glowing reviews this one has gotten.

Yeah...yawn. I'm sure it will be great, but it was done so recently. And it's not a show like Gypsy where you're curious to see certain moments, etc. It's a fine show, just not the most exciting thing.

Within ten years is pretty recent when you look at all the other amazing shows that could be revived. I can't imagine this would be a "hot ticket" but we'll see with casting.
But if you take a look at all the productions we've had on Broadway within the past ten years, it feels like a hundred!

Wonder what theatre they're aiming for? My guess would be The Winter Garden after Wolf Hall or the Imperial.

With this now a reality, can Man Of Last Mancha & Gypsy be far behind. Let us keep reviving the same small group.of shows over and over and over again

Well I for one really hope that I can see such a classic musical in a professional production, even if I would prefer for them just to do a 100% recreation of the original production.
