As a long time theatre fan, but never a performer since grade school, I got my chance to experience the thrill of being in a show now that I have moved into this active adult community here in central New Jersey. Although it's far from professional theatre I got a small taste of what it is like, going through rehersels, re-writes, tech week, and what not. I can now more than ever appreciate what professional actors go through, and the wonderful feeling of applause and compliments.
The show that I was in "Window to the World" was an original production created by my neighbors. It was a spoof of classic television, sort of what Forbidden Broadway does to Broadway. I got to play a number of characters, Tonto in the Lone Ranger, Hoss in Bonanza, the millionaire in Gilligans Island, one of the Mouseketeers, and others. Needless to say, lots of costume changes, cheesy props, and most of all, I had lots of fun and I just wanted to share this with all of you.

We do a new production every year about this time, and I'll be glad to be a part of it.
Yes I signed for a few family and friends, and explained "I always wanted to do that".

Good for you...sounds like such fun.

I recently had the opportunity to wheel my 95 year old aunt(in a wheel chair) onto the stage of Kinky Boots here in NYC. Her words.."I've always wanted to be on Broadway." We had to take a lot of pictures...so she could prove it to her friends.

It's never too late.

This may be the best thread I have encountered on these boards. Ever.

Congrats! Welcome to the brave community that's behind the curtain.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Whether you're 8 years old putting on a show in your garage, or 64 and starring in your first community production, the feeling of creating live theatre with your friends is a thrill you can't beat. Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience. It really made my day. What's next for you?!

I'll throw my joy around as well! Always such a beautiful experience to have a dream realized!
