The show will always hold a special place in my heart, as it was the first show that got 8 year old me hooked on theater for life. Although, I'm not sure if it was the show, or the score sung by Idina. I'm not fond of the story line of the show, though. It's a bit hard to follow in the theater if you haven't googled the synopsis beforehand. The two friends I attended the show with, along with their parents were trying to figure out the storyline well after the show had ended. Overall, it's a fun show, and my pre-teen cousin would like me to take her. I certainly don't mind seeing it agin. Hope you are able to go again!

I only knew a few songs going into the show. Now I can't stop listening to the cd. I can't believe it took me this long to see it. But I'm glad I finally saw it.

The part with the witch was good.

Interesting Fun Fact: Before the musical was developed, there was talks of WICKED to be adapted into a miniseries with MALEFICENT writer Linda Woolverton who was supposed to write the script which was to be "faithful" to the book.

Yet, when Marc Platt became involved, he decided to adapt WICKED into the musical that we all know and love/hate.

It WAS confusing. So Fiorello was the scarecrow all along? When he knocked in the floor and Elphaphant came up that meant she was living in the sewer system?

"Yet, when Marc Platt became involved, he decided to adapt WICKED into the musical that we all know and love/hate."

Actually it was Stephen Schwartz who came to Platt with the idea of doing it as a musical.

Fiorello forgot the little tin box.

I don't know, it was okay for me, but didn't live up to the hype. Some of the scenes/songs felt too long. Just MY opinion.

Not sure where the plot gets confusing, I had known the plot before walking into the show. The general census I get from those who go is that somewhere along the line things get confusing. I also know a few people who went to see the show purely for the music and zoned out during the dialog. "Defying Gravity was great, but where was the scarecrow?"

It's just too overproduced for my taste. I spent most of the performance scanning the stage, trying to figure out who was speaking or singing. And poor Joel Grey, saddled with that stinker of a song in the second act. But I realize I'm clearly in the minority, and it sure has provided a lot of work through the years, which is always a good thing.

Being the show that first got me into theatre, this one will always be one of my favorites. Don't listen to the haters; if you liked the show, all the more power to you, and I'm happy you enjoyed it! :)

I'm not sure that not liking a particular show qualifies you as a "hater." Isn't that a bit harsh?

I'm not talking about anyone on this particular thread, I meant in the past people have hated on the show and made fun of people who enjoyed it. I'm sorry I wasn't more specific.

Musicals are subjective. No one should be making fun of someone because they like a certain show. Wicked is doing well on Broadway. They are doing something right!

I could be wrong, but I believe they were developing wicked for a film and not a series.

Incorrect. They had in fact discussed a television miniseries at one point, as Musical Master mentioned. If you google this, there are interviews and stories about it.
