Congrats to 'Aladdin' for breaking a record for the highest weekly gross ever at the New Amsterdam. Not a bad week at all for shows most shows.

Question for anyone who may be in-the-know: If Hedwig has been selling premium tickets at almost $400 since June, why does the "top ticket paid" always seem to only be around $250?

I wonder if 'Aladdin' is not too far off from recouping, has had an incredible year thus far.

Disney usually doesn't announce if they recoup (NEWSIES was the exception) and they are probably a long ways off from recouping anyways due to a budget probably upwards of 20 million.

When is NPH's last week in HEDWIG?

PIPPIN & CINDERELLA both must be barely breaking even. I wonder if Keke Palmer will sell any tickets. And if Melanie Griffith really is joining PIPPIN how much that would help.

MATIDLA really holds very strong despite not having that Tony Award

I wouldn't be surprised if Aladdin recoups by next Spring. Poppins took 52 weeks to recoup and Aladdin been grossing over $1m a week so it's doable.

Not ALL tickets are sold at that price. Many were purchased in advance, before that high of "premium" price could be demanded.

I purchased an orchestra seat for under 200.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

"If Hedwig has been selling premium tickets at almost $400 since June, why does the "top ticket paid" always seem to only be around $250?"

I don't think BWW regularly updates that info, since Top Ticket should seemingly be a fixed amount, which would make it $450. As for why the average is still low, a lot of people bought early when seats were regularly priced. I even got a third row orchestra seat for NPH's final performance for regular price on Tony Sunday, so it's not like the show was sold out and crazy from the beginning...

"Disney usually doesn't announce if they recoup (NEWSIES was the exception)"

I remember them announcing that 'Mary Poppins' recouped and then announced the national tour not long after.

Average price totally makes sense based on that. Thanks! It's a shame they don't update the "top" field, because it would be a really interesting stat to see and compare between shows if it was accurate.
