I think it will work perfectly there on the thrust stage. It's also in a small house which is a good 400 less seats than the Booth. I think they're being really smart about opening at the cutoff.
Fingers crossed and I cannot wait!

Perfectly timed to haul in Tony nominations....... and awards. They sure know how to calculate with precision, these arty types.
Of course one could have seen this happening a mile away. Indeed, wasn't it announced months ago that it would be coming to Broadway this season? (Actually, a Broadway transfer was a foregone conclusion the very first moment that child started whining that ghastly song. And to think that the astute minds on this board declaimed loudly that that could never happen! Unfortunately, I knew otherwise.) Yet, in spite of all that, one could have wishfully--and wistfully--- hoped that somehow, magically, it would just disappear.
No such luck.
Reminds me of those fairy tales in which the wicked presence makes a vow to come back in 10 years or so to enact its dirty work, and then is forgotten. Until 10 years fly by and then there it is, to everyone's horror.
Well, here it is.

This opening of this show will set a precedent for how people predict shows will succeed in future IMO, it's doing everything 'right' - a very high quality show, tiny theatre, opening right before the Tonys with not too much competition. If this show can't succeed it really does reflect the state of Broadway theatre right now!

I wish YOU would disappear. Why can't you STAY OFF THIS THREAD?! You had to ruin this for people like me who love that show and for whom it resonates. I get it-the WORLD gets it-YOU HATE THE SHOW! WELL STAY AWAY FROM IT!

Posted: 8/7/14 at 5:15pmI don't know if it is just me, but I always get this feeling of glee and a big dopey smile whenever After Eight just rips a show to pieces. I know that it's going to happen, and when it finally does, I just get so happy for some reason. Maybe I'm just a loon.
