Dreaming, the sight lines at the Winter Garden are horrific if you are anywhere on the side in the mezz or front-mid orchestra. You truly do miss a large portion of the shows.

Exactly. The mezz is horrible. It's a loooong theater, so unless everything is staged downstage center, most of the audience is going to be partial view. It worked well for CATS because CATS essentially was a thrust stage. It worked for ROCKY because the wrap around made it feel like an arena. Not sure how Mamma Mia survived.

What a great continuing conversation! Can anybody from Chicago report to us their feelings of the Last Ship? I read the Chicago reviews and it seemed hopeful. It would be sad if it were to continue what has been the "cursed" Neil Simon in the musical department.
I agree with the majority of people responding that the Marquis would seem to be the logical fit for Neverland. Has anybody heard any chatter about how Harvey feels about the theater? If I were currently running shows and had Harvey and his big pockets breathing down my neck for my house, I'd be scared stiff!
I'm not a big fan of the BA, if memory serves me right, there are some sight-line problems and uncomfortable seats at that house. I also feel that the LF and the RR won't be available for a March Neverland opening.
Let's keep the discussion going!

The Marquis is going to another musical in Fall 2015. Finding Neverland wants a Nederlander-owned theatre that is presently occupied.

Not to worry. Once Lord Brantley starts wielding his ax, there will be a few more.

I think you may think reviews mean a lot more than they actually do.

I would imagine something will occupy the Marquis for a few months in the Spring/Summer 2015.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Honestly, I don't believe that If/Then has much more time left in it. Its been on TDF discount for most of the summer and the weekly grosses have not been all that wonderful.
If and thats a big IF it makes it through the fall, I would expect a Jan closing.

Let's also not forget that as much as people love Jason Robert Brown, he's never had a show last more than 3 months on Broadway. So not to wish any bad luck on "Honeymoon in Vegas", but it's certainly more than possible that the Nederlander will be vacant by February or March.

Has anyone else noticed that in the press release for Finding Neverland they mentioned it would be going into a Nederlander House...the Winter Garden is a Shubert House...Any ideas rumors as to where this show is going?

I'm pretty positive the Lunt will get Finding Neverland.

Very possible, my only other thought would be the Neaderlanders hold it for disney until Hunchback is ready after Papermill.

I think that Finding Neverland will go to the Lunt Fontanne. Disney will see how Hunchback does before moving it. There may be a fair number of houses open after Jan 1. And yes, sight lines on Winter Garden are horrendous. Such a wide house. You need to have a show that is designed for that space alone.

Hunchback could also take the Brooks Atkinson once Love Letters closes in February

Hunchback is not aiming for Broadway this season. It's at Paper Mill in the spring.

Doctor Zhivago is coming into the Broadway Theatre most likely.

"The Nederlander is being held for Hunchback. There might be a Holiday engagement in there, but the next open run will be Hunchback."

OK, so I was a little off about a Holiday engagement in the Nederlander (things change very fast in this business), BUT how off was I? I see bells in the future! Wait for it..... ;o)
