I'm considering getting LaDuca dance shoes. BFA Musical Theatre student! I was wondering which kind of shoe I should get (Elizabeth's, Roxie's, etc.), what color, and what size heel. Any recommendations?
Nude, T or cross strap, and 2-3" is a height that works for most people. Open sides or a lower side can flatter arches and create a good line. I wore the Alexis style for years and they held up well and provided good support for your feet. In terms of style, your best bet is to go in and try them on in person. The fitters I've worked with were always helpful. Ask for specific comments about what works and what doesn't look great.
And finally...a good pair of shoes is an investment. LaDucas are great shoes, but don't get them just because you want them or think you need them they aren't th only option. The best shoe is one that is comfortable, flattering, and works well with your body.
Because LaDucas are such an investment I'd really think you should hold off until you can purchase them in person (Since you were asking about size I didn't know if you were trying to get a sense of how their sizing compares to other brands). I'd also suggest you wait until you know for sure you want to make the financial investment. I tried some on between the tech & dress of Broadway Bares a couple years ago and ended up being willing to give them every cent I had because they were so comfortable. LOL! I was basically like "Take everything I own, just don't make me take these off my feet."
Once a year, there is a one day sale/price blowout extravaganza at the LaDuca store. It's candy every actor and dancer in the region wants when the event is happening.
Edited to add: The sale is a weekend sale next month, July 26-27. Follow their twitter feed or call the store for more info.

Is this the shoe store that appeared in "Every Little Step"?
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
