Wow that's not good at all. It's weird. She is still listed on this site as Veronica. I'm not sure how reliable it is but it looks legit to me: Current Heathers Cast Info
Hogeland will be Veronica until someone is cast, but is not assuming the role full time. She is too valuable as an understudy. Weed will be listed in the program until the next batch is ordered or the new girl starts, but will not be returning.
I've heard the same thing broadwayguy2 seems to have- that Barrett Wilbert Weed is not returning to the show and that Charissa Hogeland is only filling in temporarily until a permanent replacement begins.
In addition to covering Veronica, Hogeland is the Dance Captain and also a cover for both Heather Chandler and Heather Duke, so it makes complete sense that it would be way harder to replace her in that track than it would be to get someone from outside the show to come in as the new Veronica.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
Wow, fired? That is so weird. She was pretty terrific so whatever it was must have been big for them to get rid of her. Someone will cast her though with that voice.
Sutton, With all due respect, I feel that even sharing that much is perhaps a bit much. In regard to other things, I am under the impression that she, nor anyone, is supposed to confirm anything until the replacement has been announced and named. As far as her next career move, suffice to say that will remain questionable when and until something happens.
I saw this today, I wanted desperately to love it, but I didn't. Elle Mclemore was terrific as usual, I liked Jessica Wynn much more than I thought I would. I do not care for the new Heather Duke, I think she think wide eyes translates to not playing with a full deck, but it didn't. I liked Carissa. Having seen Weed in Bare, which I think is a superior work, I don't think she would've saved it for me, it was the show itself- it does pay a nice tribute to the movie, but something is missing. I wonder what the deal with Weed is, she certainly was critically acclaimed in the role.
I was meeting a friend inside the stage door at NWS this past weekend as Heathers got out and as some of the actors from Heathers were walking up the stairs to leave they were talking (loudly enough that it echoed through the stairway) about how nice it is now that "the Barrett disaster is over." I have no idea what actually happened, but by the sound of it, something rather unpleasant went down.
2 replacement thoughts for Veronica, off the top of my head; Krysta Rodriguez Courtney Wolfson
"Grease," the fourth revival of the season, is the worst show in the history of theater and represents an unparalleled assault on Western civilization and its values. - Michael Reidel
Krysta doesn't really have the high belt, she's more of a soprano, and Courtney's not really a great actress. It's a demanding role, both vocally and in the acting department, it really requires a powerhouse.
Visually, I can see it, but is there any show she's done where she's had to belt to an F/G like Barrett does in Heathers and been able to do it consistently?
