Finally, a real star turn (I personally don't like watching production numbers on the Tony awards) and she nails it.

Will surely go down as one of the great Tony performances.

Posted: 6/9/14 at 12:18amI regret being the dissenting voice but I didn't get that performance. Yes, she can belt her face off but I didn't get the emotional journey. What I got was technique and working the soft palate like a full-time job. She is not, IMHO, the best singing storyteller around by a long shot despite those fierce pipes.

Err, there's a whole show that comes before that song typically... it's not really a self-contained piece.

Posted: 6/9/14 at 12:22amThere's no question about that voice. But I imagine she's not going to appreciate how she looks when she see's the playback. The facial expressions were truly frightening. What looks good on stage does not always translate to the camera.

Yes it was a good three minutes of my time.
So was previewing the score on itunes. Some god awful Broadway music.
And that song on the Tony's put the nail in my desire to see the show coffin.
The room I was in (Tony party) all theatre people.. all thought it was mundane.
And it is only our opinion so don't bite my head off cause it just grows back.

So, if you don't like the music for If/Then, then you're ahead of the game of the people who went and didn't like it, or the people on the fence. I happened to love it and saw it three times, but that's kind of what's good about it. There are shows for everyone. Removing the shows you don't want to see increases your odds of seeing something you like...
