Hi,

Firstly I apologise if this has been discussed in depth on other threads! I am visiting NYC from the UK next week and would love to see Hedwig, as expected the only tickets I am finding are Premium for $720 for two. I just wondered what the procedure was for trying to get standing. The two nights I have free to see the show are Saturday 7th June and Friday 13th. Is it likely I would be able to get standing or even regular full price tickets?

Thank you for any help/advice Hedwig - Tickets Question

Hedwig has a lottery and SRO.

Not sure if they have a cancellation line for regular full priced tickets. Probably.

If you check often and luck out, you can still get regular full price tickets, but probably not two together.

I find that if there are four premium seats, and a party of three buys all but one, that one is listed as regular price for a window of time. But it will become premium again if you wait too long.

For two, I think SRO/lotto are your only safe bets.

When I was there the other week a few normally priced tickets were showing up everyday on Telecharge. I was never lucky enough to grab any as Telecharge seems to dislike me and kept crashing. There were a couple of double seats but more choice of singles but I was only looking at weekend seats.

I did standing room for Hedwig last Saturday. I wanted the 10 p.m. show, and I got there super early. That wasn't really necessary, but you never know about these things. I estimate you could get to the theater about 4 p.m. for the 10 p.m. show. (If you want the 7 p.m. show, people started getting there at 11:30 a.m.) Also, as 7 p.m. approached, the house manager and someone else who works there (sorry, I don't know his name or title, but he's very nice, and I remember him from Twelfth Night) came out to us on line and informed us of tickets for sale for the 7 p.m. show. Those were nice orchestra seats for $162 each. I chose not to buy them, but someone behind me on line did. Those last-minute seats are also available on Telecharge.

So, as a strategy, here's what I would suggest: Get there around 4 p.m. on Saturday (or maybe a half hour earlier) for the 10 p.m. show. If the line is long, don't give up hope, because some of those people will be waiting for the 7 p.m. show. You can enter the lottery for the 7 p.m. show by putting your name in starting at 4:30 p.m. The only problem with the lottery is that you can't really leave your spot in line, and from there you can't hear the names as the lottery person calls them out. So if you have a second person with you, one person can stay on line and the other person can listen for the names.

If you lose, as is likely, as 7 p.m. approaches you can maybe purchase a full-price ticket for that show. If that doesn't work out, you put your name in for the lottery for the 10 p.m. show starting at 7:30 (the drawing starts at 8 p.m.), and if that fails too, you will be able to buy standing room for the 10 p.m. show. It's a nice view from there and an easy stand.

It sounds really complicated, but basically you just need to show up, and theater employees will tell you everything you need to know about the lotteries and any last-minute ticket sales. So it's not that hard.

Best of luck! Let me know if you have any questions.
