I think it got better as it went on but its still not amazing. Lets hope its just the 1 song and that the rest are a little more energetic. I still can't wait to hear it all.
I really hope that isnt the finished track. I am obsessed with the show, and would much rather listen to a crappy live audio than that! It sounds so flat.
Larry O'Keefe hinted during his Chatterbox with Seth Rudetsky that the physical album will be available at the theater by the end of this month.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
I'd just like to point out that that recording posted on tumblr was posted on April 17th. They recorded the album on April 15-16, so I feel like there's no way that could be the final track. Only 1 or 2 days after recording it? I highly doubt it.
They are doing a big 80's prom night at the theater in the orchestra level lobby next Wednesday to celebrate the CD release. It is open to the public. They are encouraging people to wear 80's fashions and I hear the staff can wear their 80's clothes all night.
Just checked the info. 15 bucks for the public. Ticket holders may attend for free. Premium ticket holders attend, mingle with cast members, get a drink and a copy of the cd.
I just searched for "Heathers" and found "Heathers the Musical" under Albums. Despite the "June 16" in the title of this thread, the digital download is available now.
Thanks, guys. I've only listened to a few cuts but I rather like the score and I wouldn't have known it was out if not for this thread.
I saw the new JD and Heather at their first performance Monday night. Didn't know it was their first show until after. Both of them are very good. I found Ryan McCartan (the original JD)to be a bit more creepy than Dave Thomas Brown, but he was very, very good and has a great set of pipes. Loved the show both times I saw it, and can't stop listening to this great album.
I sent to Heathers asking for a cast signed playbill from the off broadway production and included my playbill from the L.A. Workshop. I included a SASE and I have since received both playbills. The L.A. One signed by returning company members and one from them signed by the whole off broadway company.
EW has a few behind-the-scenes videos from the recording session, including one with the nearly full-length 'Candy Store' audio from the finished album (I think).
