That video is hilarious. The timing of the video is so perfect that I can't help but wonder if Idina texted Curtis ahead of time to film it for her own amusement! (I realize that's probably not the case, but it's a funny thought)

Pretty sure those people were ready to follow her into the theater. So crazy!

Very excited to be seeing If/Then tomorrow night! I was thinking about stage dooring because I'd like to thank the cast and it wouldn't hurt to get a memento.

Wondered if anyone has been at the stage door lately or seen it post show? I'm just wondering if things have died down some since the beginning of the run - I imagine they have? Plus a Tuesday night might not be as crazy.

I've been on a Tuesday night. I don't think it's that bad compared to other nights. You just have to get out of the theater as soon as possible and you'll be fine. I don't know for sure if Idina comes out every Tuesday night, though.

Thanks! I'm just gonna head right out after the curtain call and we'll see what happens. Hopefully Idina comes out but I'm going to enjoy the show and anything else is just gravy.

When I saw it, it got extremely crowded after curtain call. What I would suggest you do is, once the lights go down out the end, go out of there and you will get a spot on line. Don't wait for the curtain call or you will never be able to get out of there. That's what I did and was able to to get her signature.

I don't like skipping curtain call so I guess I'll just take my chances.

If it's freezing or raining don't stand and wait. It's awful to expect them to risk their health, therefore their ability to perform, just to get an autograph.

James Snyder has occasionally tweeted of late that he won't do stage door in particularly inclement weather, so I wouldn't be surprised if some others end up skipping under those conditions as well.

Especially as commented on by others previously, skipping curtain call is a matter of (im)politeness. The weekday nights barring Friday probably still give decent chances, at least.

I agree I'm also not crazy and wouldn't stand out there in the rain, snow or freezing cold. It's irrational to expect performers to come out in that kind of weather. Tomorrow seems like it will be a decent January night in the 30s.

Anyhow like I said I'm going there to enjoy the show AND the curtain call. Any opportunity to see cast members afterwards is icing on the cake.

It was just a suggest to skip curtain call. I didn't know if you really really wanted her autograph or not. I'm sorry that I threw it out there.

No problem, I appreciated the advice. :) Being able to say hello to Idina Menzel and get her autograph would definitely be nice, but I like staying for curtain call.

It is extremely rude to leave during curtain call. If they wanted you to do that then they would bring the house lights up during it.

As a performer, and I believe other performers might see it this way as well, I see the curtain call as my opportunity to give my thanks to the audience. That's why actors bow, they don't stand there and bask in the glory. They bow to the audience as an act of humility and gratitude that you took the time to watch their hard work and art. Leaving before they have a chance to say thank you is just immature and disrespectful.

The majority of people at the stage door were inside of the building during the curtain call... and Idina is incredibly gracious and thorough at the stage door. Don't worry about it, just enjoy the show and afterward, head out and queue up. You'll be fine.

Don't leave during curtain call. Come on. I've staged doored this show like twice and both times Idina has double checked to make sure she's signed everyone's stuff, even those who are not right up against the barrier. Enjoy the show and good luck meeting the cast! They are all incredibly gracious and speaking to Idina is delightful.

Amazingly, although we have seen this show numerous times, and stage-doored every time, my daughter and I have yet to get near Idina. My daughter has Asperger's autism and she can't stand the pushing and shoving. The first time we waited, my daughter burst into tears when Idina came out because everyone rushed the barricade. We wait until the crowd dies down to approach her, but each time Idina has run into the waiting car before we can get near her. We have interacted with all of the other cast members, who are so kind and gracious, but have yet to speak to Ms. Menzel. We have two window cards without Idina's signature....hopefully will have a chance to get near her before mar 22.

What days/times did you try to approach? Unfortunately, I think mashing in with the crowd is rather necessary to ensure something gets signed. I understand your daughter probably really wants to meet her, but given that the autism spectrum doesn't mix well with any crowds, you might try to get the cards signed yourself; perhaps your daughter can hang back away from the crowd while you do so, and if/when Menzel comes your way while she's signing stuff, try to talk to her about waiting just a little bit or something.

The stage door is a zoo. Is there someone manning the stage door as the actors come out? There was when I went. If so, I would go up to him/her and describe your situation. I can't guarantee success, but it's worth a shot. The stage door hand may bring your daughter more inside the barricade as opposed to having her wait in the crowed.

If not, like pootie2 suggested, maybe have her wait back while you get the items signed and try to chat with her about staying an extra minute. Try to stand near her car or at the end of the line. If things don't go as planned, perhaps you could write Idina a letter and send it to her at the theater. She may write back, or she may just sign your window cars, but regardless, you will have a wonderful memory to look back on. Also, I heard that when she signs an item that was sent in the mail, it always comes out much nicer than her stage door scribble.

Best of luck!

In case anyone cares, I did stage door last night (Tuesday), but Idina did not come out. We stayed through curtain call and left with everyone else, quickly, and actually lucked out with a spot at the front of the barricade when they closed it off - we were theater entrance side. In my opinion the stage door was packed, especially for a Tuesday night.

Jenn Collela came out first and was so gracious and fun. Then a long wait before James Snyder appeared (also great!) and another long wait before Anthony Rapp (very nice, resting his voice). That was it tho, nobody else. Pretty early on I noticed that the waiting SUV had disappeared so I figured Idina was a no-go, but we were hoping to see others anyway so we waited. A cop and the security guy went in and out the stage door a few times, and ultimately they told us that Idina wouldn't be coming out, again no surprise. He apologized for not being able to tell us sooner.

Anyhow, I loved the show and that was the whole point.

It sounds like you had a great experience. Thanks for sharing and having a good attitude about the whole thing. Stage dooring is really just a nice bonus to seeing a show. Sucks about Idina, but I'm glad you were able to meet some of the rest of the cast. I'm glad Anthony's back. When did that happen? (I've been out of the loop lol)

I wanted to report from stage door tonight (Jan 22, Thursday). Idina did not come out, neither did Anthony. Lachanze, James, and Jenn did, and were wonderful as always. I wonder if Deans is resting up and not risking the cold because of the Super Bowl.

Hello. Can anybody tell me if Idina comes out after Sunday shows? I've heard mixed things about matinees, but on Sundays she only has one show. Thanks!

She has been leaving through the door to the left of the theater. I tried a few times to meet her, but she kept sneaking out so I gave up. I'm going to try again when it gets warmer.
