Is anyone planning to rush ALADDIN's first preview tomorrow?

I know they announced a student rush "based on availability" and, upon looking at Ticketmaster, it seems that most of the previews are almost completely sold out. However, I know Ticketmaster can be deceiving.

The rush policy doesn't indicate if they have certain seats set aside (first row, partial view, etc.) so I can only assume that they probably don't have anything concrete planned.

So, anyone going to give it a go?

I just checked Broadwayforbrokepeople.com and it said it is GENERAL RUSH, not Student Rush.

I tried rush today and was unsuccessful. I thought the box office opened at 10 so I showed up at 9 because I decided that an hour would be the longest I'd be able to stand out in the cold. To my surprise, the box office opens at 9 on weekdays and you actually get to wait inside. So when I try this again I'll show up earlier. There were probably about 10 people in front of me. They announced that rush tickets for tonight would be very limited. Everyone in front of me bought tickets but I couldn't tell if they were rush or regular so I can't be sure when the rush tickets ran out. When I got up to the window he told me that rush tickets ran out and I could buy a full priced ticket. I said I'd just try rush again another day and he said they might not always have them and it's hit or miss.

For all those interested, it is very much "based on availability."

I think that's why they're intentionally vague about their policy.

People I talked to from Wednesday told me they sold only 10 rush tickets, apparently 20 were sold yesterday and a grand total of 3 were sold this morning.

It's definitely a shot-in-the-dark situation.

"Based on availablity" indeed. For future reference they make no effort to communicate if there will be rush that day. I got there at 7 this morning and was second in line. By 10 there had to be 40 people. They let us in and at 10:03 we were promptly told there would be no rush today. When they came in at 9 they couldn't be bothered to give us a heads up. I was livid. I walked over to the Imperial and got a "partial view" seat for Les Mis tonight.

I inquired about rush at the New Amsterdam box office. It seems "rush" means only extreme far side orchestra and same for mezzanine. So if there are no seats deemed "extreme"--say, only a few scattered singles in the orchestra in better locations--there will be no rush sold. Those scattered, better seats are never to be sold as "rush." Hope this helps.

Jordan, the price has been lowered to $97. That seems reasonable, no?

But only if you get so mad at the rush of another show that you make horrible decisions.

I'll find out tonight if it was a horrible decision or not. Every theater has a different idea of what partial view is.

The poster was annoyed they didn't announce there would be no rush while everyone was waiting in line (wouldn't you?) and went and bought a ticket to another show.. What is the big deal?

My problem is the sense of entitlement of people looking for cheap tickets. It's expressly stated that the rush is "based on availability." Someone rushing on the first Sat performance of a Disney show that people have said appears to be sold out throughout previews shouldn't be surprised that tickets aren't available. Yes it sucks that the box office people didn't inform the line but maybe the decision wasn't made until they opened.

Then to say you're livid at ALADDIN and then huff over to buy a full price partial view ticket for LES MIS is silly. Did they not have any cheaper ticket for the show you seemed to want to see more?

If the Les Miserables set has the same narrow proscenium as the tour, and the limited view seats are on the extreme side, the seats really do have a limited view.

Oftentimes the box office is not sure right when they arrive if there will be rush. They often have to check in with the company manager and see what holds can be released and what has been sold on Ticketmaster overnight prior to opening.

What a deal!!!

It's no wonder I hardly go to the theater anymore. Theater has almost completely priced me out.

I'm going to tomorrow's performance. I bought my ticket back in November, and paid $101.95 for a second row mezzanine seat. Anyone else going to the Sunday 3/2 matinee?

To those who have been successful with the no-guarantee rush seats, how early are you getting there?

I was there at 7am yesterday Saturday March 8 and was 16th in line and got 2 rush tickets in the last row of the mezzanine. They were marked partial view, but were our view was not obstructed at all. By the time the Box Office opened I would say there was at least 100 people trying to get tickets on the line running all the way to 7th avenue. Around 8am a custodial worker came out and said Saturday was sold out and there were only 5 tickets for the matinee. He then proceeded to hand out ticket master fliers and told us to buy the tickets online, which was just weird. I then checked ticket master to and saw he was literally just telling us what it said on the site, which said the evening performance was told out and there were approximately 5-6 tickets left for the matinee. The entire line who heard him did not know what to make of what the guy said so we just decided to wait to see it it was true and also hoped they might start selling standing room if he was right.
From around 8:45 to 9:30 about 3 other staff had come out and counted the line and took pictures of it, who looked like they included both general management and box office staff. I think Disney is has put aside tickets for the rush for all but Friday and Saturday night performances. From what I know most of the people in front of me wanted tickets to the matinee, and when I asked about the evening show it was sold out, so don't quote me on Disney not reserving tickets for the rush for the night performances.

I also think it likely that Disney will convert to a lottery once Aladdin opens due to the massive amount of people, similar to Kinky Boots, as well as so they can stop selling certain tickets for the lottery, similar to Matilda.
