Some of my favorite interpretations are by Barbra Streisand specifically Putting It Together, Move On, Pretty Women/Ladies Who Lunch, Everybody Says Don't, Children Will Listen, and I Have One hand, One Heart.
I see nobody mentioned much of Gypsy: Everything's Coming Up Rose, Broadway, Rose's Turn, and Small World are necessities for me. I've been spinning the Patti Lupone version lately.
Also, Sweeney Todd - By The Sea, Worst Pies In London, My Friends, Epiphany, and Little Priest are great! Original recording w/ Angela Lansbury and George Hearn.
I do like Raul Esparza's versions of Being Alive and Marry Me A Little. Also, Not Getting Married Today from the same cast is awesome.
And many might not like it, but I love Glee's version of A Boy Like That/I Have A Love with Naya Rivera and Lea Michele.
Too many albums... Reaching for the ones Carlos might Enjoy...
How about this one:

Sephyr, Barbra's first broadway album was one of my first introductions to Sondheim. I adore her "Not While I'm Around. "
No playlist would be complete without his biggest "hit," Send in the Clowns," Judy Collins. When I was a kid and heard the song on the radio I had no idea who wrote it, I just knew I loved it. Beautiful and haunting
