Revivals so far are Cabaret, Les Mis, On The Town if it comes,?? Not sure of the 4th. But bravo Broadway for so many originals this season. Rather good or bad producers are taking chances.

I definitely think Jessie Mueller will be nominated. After seeing "Beautiful" in SF.

Scott do you see it being a Best Musical contender? Haven't heard much buzz about it in NYC.

I can't believe people are still asking this question after we've seen how the Tony committee has handled LITTLE SHOP & CINDERELLA. HEDWIG will be treated as a Musical Revival. The name recognition and previous exposure to a New York audience will place it there.

BroadwayStar2--I personally do not see "Beautiful" up for a Tony for Best Musical. It is an enjoyable show with Great Music, but the story is pretty mundane. Not like "Jersey Boys" with the criminal Connections and History woven into a story of Music Stardom. I put the story more in line with "Motown"--where the Music is Great but the book is kind of dull. Maybe the real story was equally as dull.

"I'm thinking Cherry Jones gets her third Best Actress Tony for Glass Menagerie..."

There was some speculation that THE AUDIENCE with Helen Mirren would transfer from the National Theatre to Broadway this spring but there has been no further news on that front so that transfer seems unlikely.

Mirren would have been her only competition so I think it is safe to say the Tony will go to Jones.

I'm surprised none of you have mentioned Norbert Leo Butz yet.

@Frank...you are so right about Norbert. Jefferson Mays and Bryce Pinkham are also giving pretty solid performances in Gentleman's Guide To Love And Murder. I would also like to add Adriane Lenox to the mix for After Midnight. In the featured actress category.

From today's Riedel column:

"I finally caught up with “After Midnight” Wednesday night, and it’s even better than I’d heard. Don’t, under any circumstances, miss this exuberant, elegant evening of Duke Ellington songs. . . . I see Tony nominations all over the place — for Carlyle, of course; for Fantasia Barrino, who’s lost weight and looks fabulous in Isabel Toledo’s gorgeous costumes; for Julius “iGlide” Chisolm, who lives up to his middle name by not dancing but gliding across the stage; and for the show itself — Best Musical."

I'd love for Celia Keenan-Bolger to be part of the conversation, she was mesmerizing. Jones reinvented the role of Amanda, I could easily see her take a very much deserved third Tony for THE GLASS MENAGERIE.

"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

Best score will go to Fun Home if it transfers I think. (I also think the cast will get some nods. I'll be interested to see what happens with the actresses playing Alison.)

The Realistic Joneses for Best Play

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Neonlightsxo, I wasn't aware, I thought he was coming with the show. Either way, If fun home transfers Cerveris is a lock, if not, I think people really want to see Danny Burstein win a tony and that part does have an awards history.

I'm definitely thinking Burstein gets his Tony next year for Cabaret... I also think Kelli O'Hara may have her shot at last next year for best musical actress if she's nommed.

We don't even know if Fun Home is transferring so at this point, I'd venture Rocky has that slot at this point.

Ben Vereen has never been attached to Disney's Aladdin. He's in this show, which is entirely different. http://www.playbill.com/news/article/184104-Bruce-Vilanch-and-Tony-Winner-Ben-Vereen-to-Star-in-Aladdin-and-His-Winter-Wish-at-Pasadena-Playhouse

The revival category will be very intersting.

Well, I'm planning on seeing Aladdin in April, so things will change. I have to say right now for IF/THEN after seeing it:

*Best Musical (At least a nomination, could be a potential winner if they make the right changes)
*Best Book (Easy win if they make it less confusing)
*Best Score (Easy win or at least, runner-up if they make some changes and cuts)
*Best Leading Actress for Menzel (Defientely, at least an nomination. GL with her, beating the actress who's Sally Bowles)
*Best Featured Actress for LaChenze [Spelling?] (Could be the winner. She was great!)
*Best Scenic Design (At least an nomination. I think ALADDIN & BIG FISH could be stronger)
*Best Direction (At least an nomination)
*Best Sound Design (MAYBE an nomination)
