So what if she missed 50 shows. If you aren't use to doing 8 shows a week it can be taxing. It gets to be taxing on performers who do it regularly. And that was not an easy role.

First of all I've been here far longer than you! I had to change emails do to a hack. And just because I stated my opinion as this is the forum to do so, does not mean I'm here to cause "trouble".

Does anyone know who our "special guest star" is for March 11-16? I might be making a return visit to NY that week and would love to see this show again. Curiously, there's a gap between KD Lang and Toni Braxton/Babyface. Perhaps a return of Fantasia? In one of her recent interviews she would love to stay longer than her initial 5 month run. I suppose a return engagement for her would depend upon her box office clout and, let's face it, her off stage behavior.

The official site lists:
Fantasia (now-Feb 9)
KD Lang (Feb 11-Mar 9)
Toni Braxton and Babyface (Mar 18-30)

Toni Braxton can't sing.. so I would skip that. KD Lang sounds like the best choice.

She's not a gay hater, you putz.
That was taken out of context.
You're probably one of those people that thinks EVERYONE is gay, and all skinny women are anorexic.

Sorry if my prior message wasn't clear. I was asking if anyone knew who would be the special guest star for the week of March 11-16. KD Lang's run ends March 9 and Braxton and Babyface aren't scheduled to start until March 18, so there's a full week of performances -- a week I may be in NY - during which we appear to not have that guest star. I called Ticketmaster to ask who was starring March 11-16 and, of course, they had no idea. Just wondering if anyone here knew.

And, yes, I have little desire to see Ms. Braxton or Mr.... Face.

Daniel Breaker would probably be better as a Dule Hill replacement.

Is Baby Face taking over for Dule Hill or just going to be added into the show? Does that mean the show will be longer? As it stands now there aren't any real "male solo" slots.

And maybe that week is put in as a buffer for KD Lang to "extend."

I saw the show yesterday. Rushed the matinee at noon and had no problem getting a ticket. Second row mezz, all the way on the side. Great seat as everything is front and center. It was not my favorite show. I'm not much of a jazzy fan, or a revue type person - I love a plot. I'm also not a fan of the Encores stagings usually because I need more set and whatnot. It works fine for Encores, but when you're on Broadway with a Broadway budget it just comes across as cheap to me. Everyone in the show was crazy talented, it just didn't do it for me.

Dame, I feel the same way about Toni Braxton. Saw her in Beauty and the Beast and she was just meh. I don't get the appeal.

Is there a standby/understudy listed for Fantasia?

I am surprised that I didn't love this show. I am puzzled because I love jazz music and tap dancing. I think what was missing was heart and soul. Everyone was accomplished and performed well. I think I would have done less songs and have each song be longer so there was more of a build up in each song. Fantasia did a wonderful job as always and it seems to me she will have no absences this time around. The is a piece of cake for her and her vocal restraint and ability shines through. But I love the more soulful and heart wrenching fantasia. Everyone did a fine job but I think I didn't agree with the artistic direction this show took. I loved seeing Desmond Richardson dance. He was pure perfection. I am sad that I didn't love this show because I really wanted to. Maybe I am comparing it to sophisticated ladies from years ago. I didn't get goosebumps. Costumes were beautiful and the fit was perfect. I'm not sue who the critic was that said they were ill-fit and tacky. I don't know what show she was watching because I loved the costumes and took special notice of the fit after reading that review. Sorry this is a little jumbled but it's 3am and my thought are all over the place. I definitely wouldn't add 20 exclamation points to my review. Maybe one or two. Let's discuss....

I forgot to mention the choreography. I understand why now after seeing it that some critics weren't impressed. I get it. Let me explain. Some numbers were cute and one was clever, but I feel like the choreographer mailed it in. It was very good but nothing I haven't seen before millions of times. Some of the choreography to me had to much ballet for this show. I didn't like that aspect except for seeing Desmond Richardson perform with perfection in his solo part. There should have been more wow. I don't know why I feel that way but I felt like some of the clips I saw were better than the show. It's like when you see a trailer of a movie and it's the best part of the movie. Just my opinion don't hate me for wanting more from this choreographer.

I'm still trying to find the answer to the question RippedMan posed earlier in this thread:

Is Baby Face taking over for Dule Hill or just going to be added into the show? Does that mean the show will be longer? As it stands now there aren't any real "male solo" slots.

Maybe the songs that the female vocalist performs will now be a duet, I only say this because Toni Braxton and Babyface just released a duets cd. I'm probably wrong. But just putting that out there.
