Hello all. A friend of mine got comp tickets to a Liz Calloway show here in Austin. I know next to nothing about her. I'm vaguely familiar with her and know she has an equally fab sister. Would someone care to fill in some of the blanks? Thanks. RC in Austin, Texas
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
Oh....my.....goodness. She was amazing! I didn't know much about her, but am sort of familiar with two of her songs from "Baby" on Sirius XM on Broadway. I remember seeing her as a judge/vocal coach in a televised singing competition for high school theatre students. Also, I've heard her on Seth Rudetsky's show on Sirius XM on Broadway. She talked about how she was involved with rehearsals for a Barbra Streisand tour. (She had to learn 40 songs for that job.) It was a wonderful experience to hear her relating some very amazing career stories. This woman has a crystal clear soaring voice. I loved her "Meadowlark" and "Memory." She was amazing throughout the evening. She did have a bit of a difficulty with an extremely complicated song. I don't know if I have the correct title, but it's "Another Hundred People"...with substituted lyrics. She was good natured about it and was able to plow thru it at the third attempt. Gosh that was an amazingly intricate song, with a rapid-fire delivery. She has a very comfortable style and a nice rapport with the audience. She did remark about how she met her husband in the first preview of "Baby." He was in the audience and proceeded to woo her throughout the run of the show. Ms. Callaway then called him "her beautiful stalker." I bought one of her cd's and talked with her a bit after the show. I am a new fan. P.S. What is the name of that "Baby" song that has: ".....I want it all"? RC in Austin, Texas

I won't comment on the fact that you didn't know her work and know next to nothing about her - don't know quite how that happens - not exactly like she's been hiding under a rock, but what do I know?
PLF- I'm sure you've heard her more than that. After all, Ms. Callaway was the singing voice of Anastasia and Jasmine (in 2 of the Aladdin films). But, I'm glad you now have been introduced to her (literally it seems)!
