Is it believed that Prince, Warlow, et al, will remain with the show untiel closing?

Prince is contracted through the end of the run. Warlow was originally only contracted through December 8, but it seems likely he would extend an extra 4 weeks.

DAME, last I heard about Diner they were delaying and trying to eventually downscale into a medium-sized theatre. The Palace, it seems, would not be a target for them.

Knowing nothing whatsoever I could see My Fair Lady happily taking the Palace. Clive Davis tends not to be a modest man, and I imagine he'd want prime real estate for his Broadway bow as producer.

Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.

I think the Palace would be too big for Diner or Hedwig.

I'm gonna be the sentimental one and say that I really feel sad for the young 'ins in this show. They must be crying buckets right now.

This is a pathetic run for a show like Annie. With its wonderful score and its very timely message, it should have run a lot longer. The artistic and directorial choices killed this show. It wont recoup. The ticket prices were obscene for a show trying to get families to attend.

It seems like there's just an overall lack of available theaters come the spring. Cabaret has Studio 54 & Aladdin has The New Amsterdam. The Bodyguard is rumored to have The Marquis, which now leaves just The Palace & The Booth with vacancies this spring. of course, it appears the Circle in the Square will be open as soon as the producers of Soul Doctor decide to close it. Then there's any new musical set to open. We have Big Fish(Simon), After Midnight(Atkinson), First Date(Longacre), The Bridges of Madison County(Schoenfeld) & Beautiful(Sondheim). Odds are one of these shows won't last past New Year's.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Mattbrain, I totally agree. I would be devastated. But luckily they got quite a bit of notice--five months, and they may have known longer. It could have just as easily been five days, and now they will have time to say goodbye properly, make arrangements for school, etc.

ACL2006- I agree that odds are at least one of the shows won't make it past New Years, but two of the shows you identified (Bridges and Beautiful), don't even open until 2014!

Both The Cort and Belasco will be free in February once No Mans Land/Waiting for Godot and Richard III/Twelfth Night finish their runs but I guess both will be snapped up by producers looking to bring their latest play. Is The Golden going to be free in the Spring as I imagine something like Curious Incident transferring in the Spring.

unless either production extends. and "A Time To Kill" is an open run. if it gets solid reviews and good ticket sales, it'll likely stay open until the Tonys.

I happened to be at the show tonight, and I really liked it! The energy did feel a little weird tonight, so imagine when I get home and read this.

That said, the cast was strong, it was a lot of fun. Merwin was on for Anthony, and was really quite spectacular. Not that I had any doubt, but it was a real treat to finally see him in a leading role.

edited for spelling correction

everythingtaboo, the "Melvin" you're referring to is Merwin Foard.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

I'm curious what people are referring to when they talk about this production in particular being bad.

As I said earlier, I had nothing to compare it to, but I didn't find the production to be bad at all. They didn't exactly make any bold choices (a la Pippin), but neither did it seem to be poorly executed. What was it about the production/directorial decisions that people didn't like? (besides the accents)

Bodyguard was meant to head to Marquis this Autumn, but there are "complications" which has forced the show to be put back, currently it's looking a Spring/Summer, seems to be going quieter and quieter so who knows?! Rumours are circulating that Top Hat, retuned by Tommy Tune, could open there next Spring now...

Nederlanders are also involved with My Fair Lady. The show can play a large theatre and will more than likely be cast with some good names that can fill a large theatre so if the show is on track for Spring, this seems the logical fit.

Charlie will not land on Broadway until 2015. As said Sam will be busy with Cabaret early 2014 and then onto Bond. The show will probably want the Broadway Theatre or Foxwoods.

^^^IMO the choreography was really lacking ..and that affected the energy and thrust of the entire show. On the other hand, the sound and the orchestra were amazing.

I did see this production more than once so it didn't stop me from going...but I always left thinking it should have been better. I would still like to see Sadie in the part. I may have to go one more time.

It was a decent run for a revival...in such a huge theater. It might been able to run longer if they didn't have to sell so many tickets.

The Marquis is starting renovations in January for 6-9 months. If Bodyguard is still targeted there it won't be until next season.

"I would still like to see Sadie in the part."

I saw Sadie. She is adorable! She doesn't have that same shiny "Broadway Belt" that Lilla has, but I kind of liked that about Sadie. It made her seem more just like a cute, charming little girl. I didn't see Lilla, but I'm just basing that off the CR and the promo videos.

Yes I saw Sadie in Bryant Park - she and Taylor both sang a solo each and she does have a different quality than either Taylor or Lilla (I have seen the others). But I would like to see her do the entire show.

Sadie actually reminded me of Allison Smith who was one of the last Annie's in the original run and I think still has the record for playing Annie for the most performances on Broadway (ok, dating myself).

I see another Annie rush in my future.

Time to stop reviving this every few years.

Instead let us have a first Broadway staging of Annie Warbucks

So sad to see that it is closing. I saw it back in June with Jane Lynch as Hannigan and I absolutely loved it! Sure, it had some flaws, but I thought it was an amazing production with a very strong cast.

And I do agree with Mr. Roxy, I would love to see Annie Warbucks come to Broadway someday.
