The Met Opera will be broadcasting 'THE NOSE'to select movie theaters Oct.26 as part of their 'Live in HD' series.There is usually a DVD produced by the Met of these perfs.for sale on their website, and often these opera's are shown on 'Great Performances' on PBS sometime during the year.

The Met's The Nose is the most amazing production ever!
William Kentridge is a genius!
The music is of course modern, as it should be for the period, but it's of a great quality and Paulo plays the role like a monster of theater!

I saw this 2 years ago.Normally my taste in opera is very pedestrian [Carmen or La Boheme is what I go to see].I went to see it because of Paulo,I loved him in South Pacific.I had never heard of William Kentridge. I was blown away!!!!!! Paulo's performance,Kentridges phenomenal video art,it was one of the most amazing theater experience I have ever had.It turned out to be the most highly lauded production by the Met that year, even newspapers like the Daily News and New York Post raved.
You will not leave the performance humming any lovely melodies but you will see something extraordinary
