O would actually be sensational on Broadway or at RCMH, but with the technical elements, don't know about it

I think a water show in New York would be great. Isn't that what people wanted when they heard The Litttle mermaid was coming to Broadway? If cirque can do 2 jackson shows i see no reason why they can't have 2 water shows.

But you have to keep in mind, that the two Jackson shows are entirely different. I think that is why Cirque hasn't made copies of productions elsewhere. They do not want two of the same things, they want something fresh, new, and different every time.

@gchris11 A water show can not happen at RCMH. It was stated that when Zarkana was moving back in for it's second year, that no structural changes could be made to the stage. Unless, Cirque purchases RCMH, and we all know that will never happen.

I think Cirque could easily make a water show thats different from O. The water show LE REVE at the Wynn studios is very different from O and they play a couple miles from each other. Le Reve isn't a cirque du soleil production but I believe a Director of Cirque created that show.

O show is very Broad and Vague if you ask me and sorta ambiguous so in comparison if Cirque put a smaller water show in New york and gave it a Good plotline I think it would work.

Music-wise, I feel like Cirque's music method wouldn't be extremely conducive to the standard Broadway pit and performance style.

It's partially recorded and partially live, and HUGELY improvisational. The structure is set, but solos are improvised, and much of the vocal, beyond "song numbers" is obbligato in gibberish.

Franco Dragone could create a water show for NY, and easily at that. I think he will sooner or later. He has created a whole bunch of shows all over of the place, and his latest show will open in Dubai. I find it very funny that he was the director for the shows in Cirque's early life (Alegria, Quidam, La Nouba, O, etc.), but he is beating them to their plans for everything. Cirque had also planned to create a show for Dubai, but it never happened. His show that's in Macao was right across from ZAIA...his show is still running.

Dragone was definitely one of the Master Minds behind Cirque's success. Once he left, the company lost a great contributor.

It works very well in a few shows- Quidam is mostly gibberish until you listen to what is going on beneath the surface and hear the voices in English and other recognizable languages, cutting through the gibberish. It's a somewhat chilling effect, especially that (and this is just an interpretation I have heard several times) Zoe is somewhere between life and death. The myriad death and suicide imagery, the echoing "coma, karma, coma" voice that recurs throughout the show, and the final few acts all seem to imply a life or death struggle.

I don't believe that for a single solitary second.

And if anybody has actually seen O live and in person in the theater in Las Vegas, then you know such a show could not possibly go into a pre-existing theater and it would be entirely too cost prohibitive to construct something like that in New York City.

I only know this as a definitive fact for Quidam, but Quidam's score for the live musicians has a few parts written out and several that are "Clarinet solo, 16 measure," "Guitar solo, 8 measure." There are musical set pieces, sure, but other segments, the instrumentalists and vocalists go wild within certain established zones.

My list of all that i have seen:

Mystere- Best Cirque show
Kooza - Loved the theme and story. Trickster is a great role.
Ovo (2x)- Cute but mostly into it for the powertrack.
Michael Jackson Immortal- Good but not my type of show.
La Nouba (3 x)- Perfect.
Varekai- Daring and something cirque doesn't usually do.
O- Meh. Extravagant but had no connection to it.
Alegria- One of the best.
Banana Shpeel-gross. waste of money
Saltimbanco- Saw when was really young. don't remember much.
Wintuk- Cute but nothin special.

I probably missed a few.

@justincharacter - Thank you so much! Do you have Totem, as well? Someone put the show up on YouTube a few weeks ago (it's since then been removed) and I enjoyed it a great deal! The music in the show, in my opinion, is some of Cirque's best (especially the Crystal Pyramids song, the second song to the foot juggling act (which is sadly not featured on the album) and the finale).

Really nice! Please do not get me started on the music. La Nouba, in my opinion, has the best music and had the best singer (Sisuandra Lewis)

I want to count how much times she riffed throughout the whole show...

I hope she left to try a different show because after all she's been with La Nouba since 02' or 03'? I can see if she got tired of singing the same songs for more than a decade, but what a great accomplishment.
