There is talk of it extending 3 or 4 more weeks(into mid-August) depending on the Tonys. We'll see what happens after Sunday night.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
I sure hope it extends until mid- August. I really want to see this show although I know historicaly straight plays, even Tony winners, don't seem to run over the summer
I've heard that Sigourney absolutely has to leave at the end of July but that they're trying to recast and extend again...anybody know?
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
Sigourney could be easily recast. She is the weakest link in the cast and the show would not suffer without her.
"The sexual energy between the mother and son really concerns me!"-random woman behind me at Next to Normal
"I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello
Off topic, but when did Genevieve Angelson leave the show? And has anyone seen her replacement...? I just checked the show's site and noticed she's gone.
Don't know about the recasting, but, I just saw the show on a Tuesday (28th) and she was out. Saw her understudy and she was great (reminded me very much of Wendy Malik). Probably different take on what Sigourney does but still fit in the show. I think this show could continue with a new cast. But, they should retain whoever they could.
If the other actors are available, I would see this extending for as long as they can break even. Wonderful show and well worth the effort to see.
I saw it on May 14th and the understudy/replacement had officially taken over by then, as they had new Playbills printed that reflected her playing it full time, no inserts. I also can't think of her name, but she was fine in a part that was not really given all that much of a chance to shine in the first place.
Of all the clips they could have used - they picked a boring piece. They could have used Shalita soothsaying, or "I'm the Evil Queen as played by Maggie Smith" or Billy Mangusson's reverse strip tease or just prancing - But, ugh. what they showed was not enticing in any fashion.
751guy, I assume that means they are going ahead with replacing Sigourney? That's great to hear.
Christine Lahti dropped out of a show at the Berkshire Theatre Festival recently- could it be her? My first choice would have been Kim Cattrall, though she's unavailable due to SWEET BIRD OF YOUTH in London.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
Worship Julie White as I do, Kelly2, she seems almost impeccably suited to Sonia, not Masha.
Masha should be played by someone who's less of a bona fide character actress and more of a glamorous leading lady, albeit one who can handle broad comedy.

Am I the only one who thinks Judith Light could make a brilliant Masha? The timing could be just about right depending on how long Sigourney can stay. I know Judith was cast in Dallas but I'm not sure its filming schedule and if she could do both.
Scratch and claw for every day you're worth!
Make them drag you screaming from life, keep dreaming
You'll live forever here on earth.

Well considering she and Kristine Nielsen are practically the same person, I'd have to agree with this.
Judith is actually an interesting casting choice for Masha. She could be very funny, but I can't see her doing the physical comedy the way Sigourney throws herself around the stage. I'd love to see Ellen Barkin take a crack at it.
