For those folks scratching their heads, it's from "Just You Wait," from My Fair Lady (of course):
Next week on the 20th of May, I proclaim Eliza Doolittle Day. All the people will celebrate the glory of You and whatever you wish and want, I gladly will do.
"Thanks a lot, King," says I in a manner well bred, "But all I want is 'Enry 'Iggins' 'ead!"
I'm so glad you cleared that up for us stoopid people.

As a little kid, listening to this LP on my parent's hi-fi system, I always misinterpreted it as "I proclaim Eliza Doolittle Die!" I didn't understand why should would be calling for her own death!
No, TheatreDiva, not "stoopid," but potentially unfamiliar with "My Fair Lady." For that matter, how many folks who are only somewhat familiar with "My Fair Lady" are familiar with "Just You Wait?" I'll bet there are loads of people who can identify "I Could Have Danced All Night," "Wouldn't it be Loverly," and "On the Street Where You Live" but have never heard "Just You Wait."
The only reason that I added "of course" after saying it's from "My Fair Lady" is that almost everyone knows that Eliza Doolittle is the protagonist in that show, even if they've never heard the less familiar songs.
In other words, TheaterDiva, I wasn't being snarky. I don't do snarky too well except when my target is the political party for which I wouldn't be caught dead voting. I can really twist the knife against those horse's patooties.
I've always been curious if she's calling herself Liza or if it's her accent and she's dropping the "E" and saying 'liza. On the OBC it sounds like Julie Andrews says O'Liza Doolittle day and then later calls herself either Liza or 'liza again just dropping the "E" because of the accent. What does it say in the score and libretto? Anyone know?
The MFL social media pages were holding an Eliza Doolittle Day Contest and here’s my entry in case anyone’s interested in taking a look. Shameless plug. lol. https://twitter.com/jacobrivsan/status/997869480687566849?s=21
Kerstin Anderson went on as Eliza!!!! I heard she was great! She was Maria in the national tour of Sound of Music.
I did look at Telecharge and stubhub for tix today but both were out of my price range (telecharge has been sold out for today the past 2 weeks and stubhub tix never went below $300.)
Saw the show today and thought Kersten was great. Also loved Norbert Leo Butz, of course, but was totally captured by Higgins. I’ve always hated that character, but I found myself feeling for him today.
Heard the line about the 20th of May today, but wasn’t sure if it was always the same date that she sang or if it changed. Fun!
