Theresa Rebeck's FEVER

So a local professional theatre company is finishing out its season with the world premiere production of Theresa Rebeck's new play, FEVER.

It seems like Ms. Rebeck is working through some of her SMASH issues... The catalyst for propelling the entire plot forward is-- no lie-- a woman throwing her drink in her date's face...

What unfolds afterwards is a social commentary on men being responsible for the ills of the world, women unable to thrive in an employment setting thanks to the ego of men, and a general inability for men and women to effectively communicate.

It certainly was pretty easy to see what she was trying to work through...

EDIT: My apologies for the double post... I have no idea how I created another account. Anyway, I digress. Here is the epic publicity photo they're using...

Is it not weird to go from premiering plays on Broadway to premiering plays at the University of Delaware?

In defense of Delaware, this isn't the first time she has written something to premiere with this company. She knows the actors and the artistic director quite well and has a great working relationship with them.

After seeing SEMINAR, I would only go to a Rebeck play if it were free and I'd had a couple of drinks. For free.

I heard her fever has been recurring on a three day interval after she got bit by a mosquito while in sub-saharan Africa.

I went to see this and thought it was great. It was really funny and it was basically an exploration of what it's like to be a woman in a man's world and the "battle of the sexes." Feminists would love it. I spoke to her at intermission and she said she wrote it specifically for this company because of how talented she thinks they are (which they are).

If she wrote is specifically for that company I hope no one in NYC has to suffer through it.

I didn't mean it as a diss to Delaware, ha.

I just don't think Rebeck is a very talented writer.
