For Those Who've Seen MATILDA...

Hello!

So, what with the show opening, and my summer pretty much swamped as is, I'm looking to see this in the fall -- but, was wondering what the consensus was for sightlines. Is the stage high for this production? Has anyone experienced front row before? If so, I'd love some insight.

Are we expecting the original company to still be with it come, let's say, September? I only ask cause I've honestly NO inkling as to contracts for shows from across the pond.

As far as seats are concerned, I was siting in the last row of the Balcony, and I saw everything fine. In fact, I would recommend balcony seats (Although, maybe try to be in the first couple of rows, because I did miss a couple things with entrances and exits from the house.)

As far as contracts, well, I'd imagine a year for the Brits, but it's anyone's guess, really.

I would think being front row is too close. You would feel bombarded. I don't think there is much to miss by not seeing the exits/entrances.

I think all the kids have a six-month contract, but I could be wrong. I was at the box office the first week of previews, and one of the mothers was booking tickets on several days in an effort to see all the kids in their different roles, since they would be "spending the next six months together." At the time, I didn't think anything of it, but that's probably indicative of the term of the contracts.

ETA: If you sit in the front row, you will miss the action that happens in the orchestra, although that is very short. For what it's worth, the balcony also has a great view.

not necessarily. I sat in the front row off to the side (right next to the house-left staircase) and It wasn't too difficult to look backwards at what was happening, and it was fun to have the actors so close when they were entering and exiting on the staircase.

I sat mid balcony and saw everything just fine. The only thing you can't see up there are the exits through the orchestra. Perfect view of the box seats.

When I saw the show I sat in mid mezzanine and was surprised to have the balcony over us. Usually the balcony is a bit further back. Felt a bit claustrophobic. Also, during intermission we walked down to the orchestra to get a better look at the set and one of the things I actually said was, "The stage is really high." I would think it would be hard to see sitting in the front row.

I was last row in the balcony and the view was horrible.

I was mid-Balcony (maybe 3 rows from the back?) -- the only thing you don't see is the actual audience exits. Everything else was great. (Note: I was in the center section.)

I saw the show almost 4 weeks ago and was sitting in the balcony. A few rows from the top, in a side section (but only 2 seats in from the aisle). The view wasn't bad, but being so far up you can't really see facial expressions.
I'm going back in a few weeks and sitting in the center orchestra midway back so I'm excited to see it more up close.
I would think or orchestra would be good, except maybe the first few rows due to the height of the stage. I think front mezzanine is good too. If you are going to sit in the balcony, center, or as close to center is best and also as close to the front of the balcony is best too.
