Right now, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike is top notch. Anxiously awaiting Macbeth. Didn't see it, but everyone was raving over Virginia Wolf earlier.
My vote is for The Nance which I found smart, theatrical, and head and shoulders above the wimpy soap opera conceits of The Assembled Parties. But that's just me.
Lucky Guy The Nance Vania and Sonia and Masha and Spike
The 3rd slot will go to either The Other Place, The Assembled Parties, Ann, or I'll Eat You Last.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."
