There is one rush (general) and standing room.

Anyone know what time I should get there for SRO?

I tried rushing this morning, got there at exactly 8am and was about 30-35th in line (wow) so I pretty much knew I wasn't getting a rush ticket, but stuck around anyway. After asking if they were doing standing room tonight, I was told "maybe" and to come back after 6. So I'm just wondering what a reasonable time to arrive is in order to be one of the first in line, should they offer it.

SRO goes on sale when the last ticket for tonight is sold. so it is hard to say. I would check back every hour is possible. If not I would start checking at 5 pm.

Thanks! Would I have to be that annoying person and keep asking the box office, or do they post a sign or something?

You have to ask the box office. The day I tried, I was happy to see the "This performance is sold out" sign. But the ticket seller said that the sign was from the previous night, and he wasn't selling standing room yet! So it was a bit of a fakeout.

Being a Friday night and everything I hope they sell out. I guess I'll stick around and check back every so often. Thanks!

WalkinginSpace-How'd SRO go? I'm trying to do that for Sat evening.

I haven't checked back at the theatre yet, but I'll probably head over around 4ish and go from there. I'll let you know how it goes.

Update: I was back at the theatre by 4 and about 20 other people lined up behind me shortly after. We waited until about 6:15 when the last pair of tickets sold and they stated selling SRO. The view is fantastic from the back of the house, as The Music Box is a pretty intimate theatre. I could go on for days about the show; it's just gorgeous. Updated On: 5/18/13 at 12:56 PM

Does anyone have insight about standing room? I've tried both times and have now twice encountered an unfriendly and unhelpful box office employee (the same man both times.)

Checking on Telecharge for tonight's performance, it appears there are still exactly 5 seats left, so I assume they won't sell standing room, correct?

If I go there before the seats are sold, can I line up outside the box office? Last time I went last week the man at the box office just barked "no" when I asked about standing room and then when I followed up by asking if that meant they weren't on sale yet, they had sold out of SRO, or it wasn't being offered that night, he said "maybe come back later."

They most likely will sell SRO. I was in town last weekend and every time I passed the theater, including when I rushed on Sat and Sun, the performance was sold out. Sat I missed out on rush and checked back at 1:30, and SRO was still not happening. They told me check closer to curtain. I went back at 4:50 or so, and I had just missed it, so I wouldn't wait too long.

SRO is sold day of when the show sells out. I would start checking at 2pm and then keep checking back. I know the box office guy you are referring to and he is most unpleasant. I do not know what happened to the nice guy that worked the window.

Any idea what time I would have to be at the theater in order to get rush seats for a Wed Mat or night show? or even Thursday? Thank you

Before 8 am.
I have rushed it 16 time successfully. The line fills by 8am. Saturday it was full by 7am for 2 shows.

Can anyone clarify what seats are given out for rush?

Is it still side orchestra and boxes? Are certain seats better than others and are the better ones given out first?

The rush seats are the 4 rear box seats on either side and then the last two seats on both left and right from row B to row D in the orchestra.

I've never sat in the rush seats before, but I know people who have sat in both sections. People who sat in the rear boxes said it was a little hard to see, but they were allowed to stand up to see when it got especially difficult. The orchestra seats have similar issue where the way the show is staged impedes the view from some seats; but largely friends have said you only miss one or two moments and that the show is so well staged that if you miss something happening on one side of the stage, more often than not there's something happening on the other side of the stage that you can watch.

Rush seats are awesome. Some are better than others but I am not giving out that info. Sorry. I have seen it 16 times already and am planning on 3 more times this week.

Aren't you so secretive (and I may add a little psychotic.)

Maybe I will bump into you one day this week. Thanks for the very necessary help.

"Some are better than others but I am not giving out that info. Sorry. "

Uh, why? That's creepy. You don't own the rush seats or the rush line, no matter how badly you want to.

No, I'm "pissy" because I think it's really creepy when people feel they're the only people entitled to enjoy something. If you're truly a fan of a show, then you should want to share it and spread the love and help others be introduced to something that you find so wonderful.

I do spread the love. but there is a small group of us that have been to most of the events and we take the show seriously. get to the theater before 7am the rush seats are in the first 3 rows on the ends and the rear boxes. there are 20ish tickets per show. And I will be doing SRO a few times this week so I can sleep in on my days off this week.

The rush line may not be mine, the seat may not be mine, but the info you seek is. and it is not creepy at all. Also what do you consider good seat. your idea of a good seat could be rear balcony, or 3 rows back in the orchestra. I don't know where you like to sit.

And it is my time and my money!!! I have not seen the same show twice there is always something different.

I wouldn't go as far as calling him a psychopath, but definitely unusual and somewhat excessively obsessive. Meh...It's ultimately his time and money, so whatever.

Good luck with the rush tickets. I saw the show last Friday, and when I walked into the theatre at 7:45pm, there SRO line was formed, but tickets weren't being sold yet...I believe there was a single ticket unsold. The view from the back of the orchestra would be awesome though.
