Caught this today, and I really liked it a lot more than I thought I would. I don't think I'm an all-out rave just because I'm not a huge fan of the music just in general, but I thought it was pretty great.

After seeing it, I totally see why Patina won the TONY. She was fierce. At first her whole like stage-voice thing got on my nerves, but girl can sing and by the end I was a fan. I was hoping she'd have some big song, but she really didn't, but I liked it.

Andrea Martin and Rachel Bay Jones were the standouts to me. Hilarious and heartfelt. Just brilliant.

I had Billy Thighe as Pippin and wasn't a huge fan. He's cute and whatnot, but his singing was sooo pitchy and timid. I will say he shined in "Extraordinary," but all the other things were a little sketchy and his "Love Song" harmonies just didn't sound right.

The direction was great, etc.

And for those interested, I was in the left box and before the show started my usher said I could move to the Mezz. Granted he was a gay man and I'm a gay man, so we sorta were kindred spirits. I noticed he didn't really tell everyone else that, ha.

I just noticed this, but Stephanie Pope has left the show. Gabrielle McClinton is now in her track.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Is she understudying the Leading Player?

So that means that 3 original cast members are now gone:

Stephanie Pope, who is now in Chicago (I don't understand at all why that move is beneficial for her)
Andrew Cekala, who left last week (I assume to go back to school in Boston)
Orion Griffiths, who is still out on injury

I wonder what the actual last performance with the original cast (including ensemble) was. I think Lolita Costet got injured before Orion went out, so it may have been as early as June.

"What was the name of that cheese that I like?" "you can't run away forever...but there's nothing wrong with getting a good head start" "well I hope and I pray, that maybe someday, you'll walk in the room with my heart"

Who were the original pippin understudies?

I'm surprised Stephanie left the show...she previously played Velma and now rejoined Chicago as a Velma u/s....

Lolita Costet was back last time I saw the show (last week in August), I just don't think she does the "Bolero" trick anymore.

I caught the show during the Labor Day holiday. Lolita Costet doesn't do the Bolero anymore, but the rest of her track seemed very similar to what I saw when the show was in previews. I believe Viktoria Grimmy is the female Bolero specialist now.

With Stephanie Pope and Andrew Cekala leaving and Costet being out for a good chunk of the summer, I'd guess the original cast performed together last not long after the Tonys..

Playbill Vault and IBDB list Gabby McClinton as a cover for the Leading Player. Someone mentioned on here that Patina will be going on vacation later this month or early October, so I'd guess we'll get a glimpse of her then for sure.

I absolutely loved the show with Patina but do want to catch Gabrielle as Leading Player! She's tremendously talented and will probably be very fresh in the role.

Also, does anyone know if/when Orion is returning? Hope he's recovered from his injury!

I have to wonder why Pope would leave Pippin for Chicago?? Is Chicago less grueling of a show??

Rachel Bay Jones was the cast member that deserved it the most, IMO. No diss to Martin, who was great but Jones elevated her character to a completely different level and was oh so wonderful. Still angry she didn't even get nominated.

^ agree 100 percent. Her performance was beyond genuine and really heartbreaking. You had to see her do "I guess I'll miss the man" live. The cast recording doesn't do her justice.

Look at who posted.  Nothing logical ever from there.

Just a quick cast question for this pippin production. Was Christopher seiber in this? In all of his bios it said he was and I can't figure out who he played.

Yes, he played the role a number of times when Terry Mann was directing a show (and injured? I can't remember exactly). He was never a full time cast member, he would just come in and do a handful of shows as needed.

Regardless, I saw him and thought he was awesome. It's the type of role that Chris Sieber hits out of the park.

He substituted for Terrence Mann for several weeks as Charles. It's all on IBDB.

Chris was a fill in for T Mann when he went to direct N2N. Chris was hurt while rehearsing Matilda and still filled in for T Mann.
