Didn't filming finish in December? Wonder if it's just in post-production, but I haven't heard ANYTHING at all about it recently.

There was a thread a little while ago from someone who saw a screening of it.

And I love that poster.

Jordan, I read a report from a screening, but I found the link on ATC. Was that where you saw it or did someone post here, too?

Yeah, there was a preview screening that got very good buzz a couple of months ago.

This is the one I read. It's from a Meryl Streep fansite, but I didn't feel like that colored the opinion drastically.

Someone posted about it here. There was a good sized thread about it on the Off-Topic board, if I remember correctly.

I like the poster. I have high hopes for this film. This film could potentially put Streep in frontrunner status for her 4th academy award. Julia Robers will probably also get a nomination in lead or supporting if the delivers.

There was a large debate at Gold Derby - a site that discusses all of the major industry awards - about whether the reports from the early screening can be trusted or not, i.e. members of the studio, overly enthusiastic fans of Meryl Streep, etc. Regardless, all of the reviews they posted were pretty positive.

I hadn't seen the poster prior to today, but I think it's great!

Yep. This is going to be a disaster. As if Julia Roberts could even hold one candle in the wind to match Amy Morton's stage performance. Let alone Meryl Streep try to even be compared to Deanna Dunagan. This will be forgotten and swept under the rug before you can even say "Jekyll and Hyde". At least we'll be able to see Julia and her horseteeth braying in a representational and "dramatic" performance that can only elicit laughs when they are not meant to be.

But those women didn't get the movie roles. The reason doesn't matter. Stage acting and film acting are not synonymous.

I can never understand the vehemence towards highly respected actors. I get that you might not personally like someone's work, but why do people think that everyone else (those casting, those directing, those buying tickets, etc) is outright WRONG.

May we be struck down with no talents like Streep and Roberts for a long time to come.

Do I think they are the ONLY actresses that can do most of the movie roles they get? No, but I usually enjoy and respect their work.

I actually have high hopes for the film. MIGHT it prove to be a dog? Sure. But it might be wonderful. I'll keep an open mind.

I won't even engage. Needless to say, this is the movie I'm most excited about this year and I think the cast is absolutely perfect.

I'm excited to see the finished product too, but does anyone else feel this poster is a cute wacky image (in sunny sunshine yellow) that suggests a feel-good comedy? Even the tagline sounds like a cue for a Steve Carell giggle-fest, no?

It IS a comedy, just a very dark comedy. I know I feel better about MY life after viewing it!

The poster's color scheme is actually very much faithful to the original artwork of the show:
