Did anyone else catch that "One night stand--24 hour musicals" event that was broadcast into movie theaters last night? i did and got quite a kick out of it! Cheyenne Jackson is so freakingly outrageously talented! that man can make a silk purse out of a sow's ear (in other words, a hysterically funny well crafted performance in musical skit that was put together overnight and came across as a little short on coherent storyline). Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Richard Kind were both a riot in their "mini musicals". Rachel Dratch was funny but a little uncomfortable with the music at times. Mandy Gonzalez was amazing in her singing, especially when paired up with Tracie Thoms. There was some serious comedy and diva-ness going on. I loved it. The documentary part captured people working under an extremely tight deadline (write the entire 15-20 musical in about 8 hours, overnight!) and there was some pretty funny stuff watching people chugging Starbucks and trying to be creative and collaborative at 3 am. Some minor freaking out ( love the composer that had a breakdown and then puked to get his creative juices flowing!) and a few flubs. But definitely an interesting perspective on how a show gets put together and an amusing look at theatre people being themselves.

I saw it in the OC with 16 other people. Unfortunately we were five minutes into the show and the picture went out. Was hoping that this was not another Fathom Event technical flop for me, the last one was canceled. Picture finally came back ten minutes into the show which was only 80 minutes long.

I also enjoyed it very much and those that you liked were my favorites too. Was really impressed with what they achieved in 24 hours especially Lance Horne's music with Gonzalez, Thoms, Marnie Schoenberg and Rachel Dratch.

The best of the musicals for me was definitely the one with Cheyenne Jackson, Roger Bart, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and the gorgeous Summer Strallen.

The composer that had the breakdown and then puked was Benj Pasek who writes with Justin Paul who are part of the new musical "Hitlist" on season 2 of Smash.

That theatre the Gramercy where they showcased the 24 hour musicals was it the same one that was used for Will Chases' Bruno Mars song on "Smash"?

This will be coming out on DVD in March so those that didn't see it will have a chance.
