It may sound cliche but Cheyenne Jackson?
I think he has the look! But can he play seriously demented is the question.

Sheik better have workshopped the hell out of this thing. I feel like he announces a new project every few months that eventually has one small regional production that awes exactly no one and then vanishes.

I had heard that Christian based his performance on Tom Cruise.

This could be a good way to get James Marsden on stage.
Andy Karl is such a natural choice for this. I think he'd be brilliant, and he really deserves a show to carry on his own at this point.

I was thinking Andy Karl, as well. But the REAL question is who would we want to see all ripped and half naked?

I love the Benjamin Walker suggestion, and REALLY love the James Marsden suggestion.
....but the world goes 'round
Benjamin Walker is my favorite so far. I wonder if he'd be willing to be naked (again) in a dark/funny musical (again)?
James Marsden would certainly be interesting and it would be nice to see him play against his good guy/Elf prince type.
I've never seen Andy Karl play dark and real. I'm not saying he's unable to and it would be interesting to see if he could.
Bryce Pinkham is also interesting. I know I'd personally be ok listening to him sing and take his clothes off.

This would be a great vehicle for Matt Bomer.

Dark and real? What American Psycho are you referring to exactly? Maybe I'm nit-picking, but as a huge Ellis fan and repeat-reader of the book and repeat-viewer of the movie, American Psycho exists almost entirely in an incredibly heightened reality. Dark, yes, but realistic is hardly what's called for in the material. Almost all of Ellis' work is characterized by a dry, dark humor that can easily go right over the head of a casual viewer, but the brilliance of American Psycho lies in how disturbingly close to the darkness and griminess of our basest impulses the heightened reality Ellis creates can get.

I didn't mean real as in stone-cold reality. I meant it more as I've never seen Andy Karl (and I'm a big fan of his) not be "on" and go for the laugh. He's always in a heightened state, but his particular style doesn't particularly fit with the piece's heightened style. I'm in no way saying he can't do it or be amazing, in fact, I'd love for him to get the opportunity. I just meant it as he's never played this particular style and color before.
