I can't understand why a Broadway transfer hasn't been announced yet?? Broadway is way overdue for a Pippin revival and this production seems to be first rate and has gotten nothing but postive reactions. In a season that has been bleak for musical revivals this would be a most welcome offering. Hopefully, an official Spring transfer will be announced very soon.
Having said that, I have no interest in seeing another production of Pippin. I think it's an ok show , but its not something I ever have to see again. The score is mediocre, characters are two dimensional and there is no dramatic tension or build up. It has a boring book that only serves as a frame to show off the staging. There are too many new things to see. Maybe once I see how the staging is I'll change my mind, but I doubt it.
It's almost certainly transferring. Kelly, to your point, this has been an incredibly weak season of musical revivals. Drood is very good but one good revival doesn't make it a strong season. With very few exciting revivals planned for the Spring thus far it would be a fair assessment to call it weak.

I saw a local interview with Paulus and she mentioned something about waiting to see the official reviews (It opens someday this week) before finalizing that decision.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I don't know why "I Guess I'll Miss the Man" wasn't listed, it certainly was performed -- but differently than I ever remember it.

"I Guess I'll Miss the Man" isn't listed for dramatic purposes. Catherine isn't supposed to be singing that number in the show within the show, and she departs from the "script" to do it herself, which I believe is referenced in the play. As such, many productions go meta and leave it out of the program.
ETA: Is the song in the HOME scene listed as "Back in the Bosom"?
There isn't a song in Scene 2 - to the best of my memory.
I just scanned the insert in the program, and cleaned it up a bit. Since there WAS an insert, I don't know if that implies there have been other performances that are different.

I can't see how it won't transfer. The timing is perfect for it and being able to tie it to Wicked would be a plus if they need to use it. Soon as they put up dates I'm so booking a trip to NYC to see it.
g.d. - the small number in the HOME scene that is sung in the video production is not in this production at all. They way that scene is done, you don't really miss it.
And Wicked has such a short shelf life -- better strike while the iron is hot, eh?

Thanks for clearing that up, but that number has also not been present in recent productions. Schwartz has replaced it in other recent productions with a number called "Back in the Bosom," which I understand was initially in this production as well. Is there any song?
There is, instead of either song, a dialogue scene in which Charlemagne tries his best to seem wise and clever to say to Pippin but everything comes out either cliched or utterly inscrutable. Some of this scene can be seen in the bits surrounding "Welcome Home, Son' in the filmed version of the show, but a decent amount of it is new.
