Was anyone else there tonight? I had a FABULOUS time!!! Annaleigh Ashford was there (in place of Mary Catherine Garrison, I believe?) as Lynette Fromme, which was a little surprise I wasn't expecting. A thoroughly enjoyable evening...what a fabulously dark, intriguing, and funny musical.
I was there tonight and thoroughly enjoyed the show. I did not get to see it as a staged show so I have no point of reference in that regard, but for me they did enough to bring it to life and make it much more than just a simple reading or concert.
I was pleased to see them selling autographed CDs and posters. Already had the songs on iTunes so the poster was our choice.
One fun side note - we went to Joe Allen for dinner afterwards and ran into, of all people, Victor Garber. Talk about the evening coming full circle. And no, he was not at the concert. He even told me he wasn't aware they were doing it.
Had a great time, was worth every penny, except for the person sitting in rear mezz row KK seat 109 clearing there throat every 2 minutes and not sitting still the whole time (ugh)
Such a fantastic night! I barely missed this the first go around (wasn't living in New York yet) so for me this was a great second - and probably last - chance to see this cast and "staging." The book scenes were particularly fantastic and generally very funny and hearing Cerveris' Booth live was such a treat!
Didn't see too many recognizable faces in the audience, but Stevie was certainly there and (duh) Joe Mantello. Any other sitings of Sondheim luminaries in the audience?
