I know I don't post often, so please don't hate me for randomly asking this question.
But, I am going to be auditioning for West Side Story soon and they are asking for 16 bars from a Golden Age musical. I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for songs that might be good to use for this audition that would work for a high Tenor??
-Hey There (Pajama Game) -Younger Than Springtime (South Pacific) -I Could Write a Book (Pal Joey) -On The Street Where You Live (My Fair Lady) -I Believe in You (How to Succeed..) -Corner of the Sky (Pippin)

Rare enough that probably no-one else will do it but also by Leonard Bernstein and in a similar part of the voice to some of the singing in West Side Story.
If I hadn't already loved you, henrik, your allusion to a song from STREET SCENE would have left me smitten.
To the OP, I think you're safer with songs from before 1960. Though shows like HOW TO SUCCEED and PIPPIN may seem "Golden Age" to us now, they are also indicative of the transition into later sounds.
