I saw it in Seattle. Carolee's performance is worth seeing. She's simply stunning and the music was clearly tailored for her voice.
The show was a hot mess in Seattle, though. Kind of a campy, flop collector kind of mess.
Gifford's lyrics are often appalling and laughable ("Why must I be forced to swallow such religiosity" was my favorite). Still, Carolee is fantastic (think Ebersole in Grey Gardens or Victoria Clark in Piazza but with worse material) and Aimee's story is compelling (if not always worthy of the material). It's clear that Kathy Lee loves her subject, but her lyrics often sound like Everyone Has a Story: The Musical.
