Just wondering if anyone on here saw the 2005 (2006?) Roundabout revival of Entertaining Mr. Sloane with Alec Baldwin and Jan Maxwell? How was the production? And is there any known footage of it online? Couldn't find anything on Youtube

I saw it. Baldwin was quite funny and did a pretty good job with the character. (the man can definitely act on stage.) The production as a whole was a disappointment (I'd seen a really brilliant one with Alison Steadman in London a few years prior.)

Maxwell was adequate but nothing special. The Mr. Sloane was just a big nothing and was basically just eye candy instead of being the a manipulator. Overall the production was a little flat and lacked the manic energy the play requires.

I've never seen Entertaining Mr. Sloane on stage, but I quite liked the movie version. Beryl Reid is delightful as Kath.

Beryl Reid is fantastic in this- if only for wearing some of the most unflattering costumes ever seen in film with such flair. Her Kath makes my skin crawl...

Leadingplayer...I saw Steadman as well...but nowhere near as good as Imelda Staunton more recently (and Matthew Horne was pretty good)

When I heard Alec Baldwin and Jan Maxwell were doing it, I assumed there must be two plays called ENTERTAINING MR. SLOANE.

Leadingplayer is certainly right that Sloane has to carry the action until the reversal at the end. The 1980s off-Broadway production (later restaged with the same cast at the Mark Taper Forum) set the bar pretty high. Maxwell Caulfield was Sloane, originally.
