On top of that Mitt has more or less lost the Latino vote.Ryan sure as hell won't lure them into the voting booths.I fear that the Republicans may feel that this election has already been bought. Lets not forget, Scott Walker should have easily been recalled and if it were not for the tons of money that flooded WI he would have been.
Part of me is laughing and shaking my head because I think Ryan is a terrible choice. However, another part of me is terrified. Same way I was terrified when the world was introduced to Sarah Palin. There is always a 50/50 chance.
I hate it when Democrats get over confident. This election is gonna be real close.

Isn't it interesting that the 2nd in command is "chosen", not elected, 90 days before a prez election? I know the Vp is usually thought of as a joke position, but hey, isn't this a bizarre abberation of the elction process?
Is it that close? Nate Silver and people over at the Talking Points Memo have had the Romney trip to Europe as a turning point and even before that both had Obama over the necessary 270 electoral votes. I feel like the Obama camp is playing up the closeness to not have the base get smug and not vote.
I totally agree, Strummer. I personally don't think it's going to be that close, but what do I know? Anyway, Ryan is pretty much beefcake for the closet young Repubs.

When you look at the electoral college and start adding up the votes to make it to 270, Florida is pretty much a must win for Rmoney at this point. Did he think that picking Ryan, whose budget plan involves trashing Medicare in favor of private vouchers for insurance, would help him win that state?
Florida has one of the highest concentrations of elderly voters in the country. Once they start to learn more about this Ryan budget plan, and they consider its implications, they are never going to vote for Romney/Ryan (OMG! That sounds so dumb)

If Romeny winning is hinging on taking Florida and Paul Ryan is his VP, then he is going to have some serious explaining and backtracking to do... The elderly voters are not going to like some of this. And I can't say I blame them.

It used to be until the 12th amendment, that the VP was the runner-up in the Electoral College voting.

Oh and by the way, they played the theme to the movie "Air Force One" while introducing Ryan to the stage. I kid you not. (why not the theme from Titanic?)
