Oh My God!
She's in GREAT voice, the room and sound system are perfection and they've put together a right-on-pitch show for her (balance of old/new, serious/comedy).

It was like having her sing to me in my living room... if my living room had really great lighting... and I didn't have a phone jack there... and I wasn't allowed to get up

Or move.

It was - truly - a peak experience

It is pretty spectacular! The atmosphere is awesome. And it's always nice to have drinks while you listen to great music.

I just found out I am going to be in the city next week and would really like to see this- the website says the 11:00 pm show on Friday the 15th is not sold out but I can't get tickets through ticketweb- I see this an issue in another thread- any ideas how to get a ticket- I can't find a phone number for 54 Below and 411 says their number comes up as inactive...

Did you call the number listed for TicketWeb? 1-866-468-7619

When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain. -Kad

That was my first call givesmevoice- they said it simply means they don't have anymore tickets to sell but 54 Below did- I asked them for a number and they gave me a number that was a Chinese Restaurant- not exactly what I needed

She looks better than she's looked in years. Really trim, pretty, well dressed, nice hair. She was in a modified tux thing, and if you squinted (though we were front row) it could have been Patti at Les Mouches.

She sounds phenomenal. Lots of beautiful soft singing, but as many ringing high notes as you could want. Also her low notes have NEVER sounded better, IMHO. She did an amazing "Pirate Jenny" and an even better "Hymn to Love." Did "Invisible" as an encore, which reminded me how much I liked that score, and that number in particular.

I think more than anything I was struck by how happy she seemed and what a good time she seemed to be having, which was infectious.

The room is really pretty. Kind of like Feinstein's, but smaller: baroque ceiling vaults, leather-covered tables.

I thought the whole thing was pretty wonderful.

I'm going next week. How is it determined where they seat you? Is it first come, first seated?

That's a good question. I have no idea (it was an invited dress rehearsal), but the room isn't at all huge, so I imagine all the seats are fine.

Does she sing "Easy To Be Hard"?

I don't know all the songs. But she did "Hymn to Love." "By the Sea." A rousing number where the whole room is splashed in rainbows about Broadway - which is brilliantly orchestrated with hints of Gypsy, Evita, etc. She did "Meadowlark" as an Encore tonight, but I think it's a "tweet" thing, so it will probably change every night. She did a couple of songs I wasn't familiar with, but there wasn't a bad one in the bunch. She was balling during "Hymn to Love" to her husband who was in the audience.

She did not sing "Heaven is a Disco" but that doesn't mean disco wasn't represented. She did Bee Gee's "Nights on Broadway" (complete with a light show!)
Highlights: "Pirate Jenny" "Meadowlark" "By The Sea" and "Invisible"

Reg! Were you at the 12:30 dress? I can't believe we were in the same room and I had no idea!

I'm not the biggest fan of Lupone in general. But when she delved into the Weill numbers and the Piaf stuff, I thought that suited her better than anything I've ever seen her do. The moments were magnificent...truly special. And it made me want to see her Frau Schneider.

The two of you in the same room with Patti LuPone. The mind boggles.

How did her "September Song" compare to Anjelica Huston's?

Very, very different. Both lovely, both wonderful interpretations.

But given the history of the song, I tip slightly towards Angelica.

Oh, Reg...I feel like Deborah Kerr in An Affair to Remember! Meet me on top some tall building at some time.

What does the show curtain look like? Does she stage door? Can I take a picture?

She kept yelling at me last time I took a photo of her singing. She kepting wanting to know who I was and I said "Haven't you gotten any of my letters!?" I signed them clearly

She was VERY funny during the dress about cellphones and such. Very off-the-cuff. I was sitting right where she entered and exited the stage, so I got to be upclose with the grande dame. I won't lie. I was a little in awe. Her voice does indeed sound great. And she looked terrific.
