Book Of Mormon is to start doing a Friday matinee performances from 08th June, forgoing its Sunday evening performances.

for me this is a brilliant idea and hope more shows follow suit, as my trips to New York are a vacation, so this will give me more shows to see, potentially 11 a week now.

Rock of Ages did Friday matinees last summer & Chicago did Thursday matinees last summer as well. Neither show did well for those performances, hence why they're not doing them again.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour will be starting up in Somerville, NJ on January 20, 2018. The tour continues through Sarasota, FL(Apr 24-25); Panama City, FL(Apr 27); Jacksonville, FL(Apr 28); Kansas City, MO(May 29-Jun 3); then touring throughout Asia in June - August.

Sure - I get that and can understand why the producers reverted back to the 'normal' schedule.

However Mormon is a sell out and more, so strange why the producers are tampering with the schedule.

Mormon could do its 8 performances Monday - Thursday matinee and evening and still sell out every show, the show is a phenomenon.

I don't actually underdtand the reasoning behind a friday matinee. Many people will be at work or at school, and isn't friday night a big time for Broadway shows?

Not people who are taking short trips (and don't live on the west coast or further). They could be leaving after work Thursdays, only taking Friday off work and going back home on Sunday.

And it's summer -- not a lot of people in school.

Any news or word if there will be any Broadway or off-Broadway Friday matinee performances this summer? I'm trying to put together a long weekend trip where I can see as many shows as possible.

It doesn't appear that any Broadway show are doing Friday matinees, but several shows are adding Thursday matinees(Mamma Mia, Phantom, Cinderella, Beautiful & Newsies[occasionally]}.

Check the week of July 4th...sometimes during holiday weeks shows will add a weird matinee (usually a Friday) to make up for a missed performance.

Are there any current shows (B'way or Off-Bway) that offer a Friday matinee in late March? I'd like to squeeze in an extra show if it's possible! Thanks for any assistance provided!

No Broadway. Doubt Off-Broadway would have any...

Does anybody else see that this board as more than 64,000 views with less than a page of responses?
