With Shakespeare in the Park beginning tonight with "As You Like It," I figured it might be nice to have 1 thread where everyone can field their questions about tickets or post status updates about the line (especially for when Into the Woods starts).

So here you have it, anyone in line for the first preview of As You Like It?

I'm curious as to how difficult the virtual lotto will be today, especially cause it looks as though there's some tech problems on the site with new account enrollment...

For anyone who needs the link, because I'm sure someone will ask: http://shakespeareinthepark.org/tickets

I entered the virtual lotto on a whim, because I doubt there will be a day when I have time to stand in line this summer. Fingers crossed!

GatorNY - Sure thing, it's here to help everyone!

It looks as if the whole site is down now, doesn't this happen every year?

What's the best route to go if you want to be guaranteed a ticket to Into the Woods without having to do the big line? Do you have to donate at a certain level? And are you guaranteed one ticket or two?

$175 gets you a ticket (though it is not guaranteed if there is major rain).

I love waiting in line, both in the Park and in the other boroughs (which are not anywhere near as crowdedO.

You can donate $175 (tax-deductible)per ticket and secure a particular date. I plan on doing this and the line (which can actually be a lot of fun!)

I would post a link but the Public site seems to be down still.

Anyone in line today? I'm planning on going this weekend and trying to evaluate how popular a ticket As You Like It is.

(though it is not guaranteed if there is major rain).

Actually, they will provide new tickets but these are subject to availability.

What is the link for the virtual lottery? The place I'm trying to access it from is not loading.

The site was working this morning around 8:30, when I entered the virtual lottery, but it seems to be down now.

For those of you curious, there are only about 50 people in line right now.

And yes, the saxophone man is here

The Public just tweeted that there are still tickets available for walk-ups. Wonder how long into the run that availability will last.

The best time to go to these things is during previews because word isn't out yet.

OK, so first — thanks for starting this thread, BwyFanatic. I'm a total newbie to Shakespeare in the Park procedures, so this got me crackin'.

And guess what? I just got notification that I've received two tickets for tonight's performance through the Virtual Lottery, which can be picked up at the Delacorte Box Office between 5-7.

The Public website is down (again! - I'm afraid they don't appear to be equipped for virtual anything, God love 'em). So apologies for the questions, but: Can anyone tell me what this really gets me? After I pick up my tickets, do I then go to the end of a line that's been waiting all day for first-come-first-served seating? (Which, I image, means I should get there at 5 rather than 7.) What time does seating open? Any help/advice is greatly appreciated! : )

If it is the same as in past years winning the virtual lottery means you get 2 tickets (and they are not first come first serve, there are assigned seats).

The line that starts in the morning is given tickets when the Box Office opens early afternoon. If there is a line there when you get there to pick up your tickets it is for Standby.

I won the lottery last night, but there we quite a few tickets still left when I got there (and up until curtain) and I did see a few chunks of empty seats so now is definitely the time.

And please do go. It is a wonderful production.

Very excited. Just hoping it doesn't rain. How were the seats, dave1606? (Or is this kind of a "no bad seat" theatre?)

For the most part there really are no bad seats. I could tell you my seat, but I don't have my ticket with me and I find their seating confusing (there is a seating section ie 600s, a row, and another letter). I was in the middle section towards the rear, and found the view perfect.

I was sitting way over on the right side (in fact, the very last seat). I had no trouble seeing or hearing (the actors are miked), but occasionally one character blocked my view of the other character, especially when two were talking to each other. So I could see the back of one actor, and I couldn't see the other actor at all. That happened a couple of times, and it's my one quibble regarding my seat.

The Public Theater tweeted 40 minutes ago that there are tickets available now at the Delacorte for anyone who wants to go there and pick them up.

Followspot, how did you like the show?

Any guesses on how early one needs to get there for this Saturday's performance? From the post so far, 7AM seems more than safe.

Thoughts?
