Denis O'Hare to Play The Baker in Public Theater's INTO THE WOODS! |
Outstanding!

-- Thomas Jefferson
Perfect! Still need a Little Red and Jack's Mother! Come on!

Opposite Amy Adams?
Huh.

Can someone give me directions to that star-driven "Into the Woods" production that Shakespeare in the Park was going to do? The only (semi) known name in this production is Amy Adams.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
That description of As You Like It (masquerading as The Robber Bridegroom) makes my teeth hurt. You just know they're gonna make poor Donna Lynn Champlin do grotesque things...
Based off of this concept of the show... Adele as Little Red?

Is that star-driven enough for ya?

I think O'Hare will make a perfect baker. Are people suggesting that 50 year old men can't get women pregnant? Ever heard of Tony Randall?

The Baker and his Wife always seemed a lot younger than 50 to me.
Will O'Hare turn the Baker into one of his neurotic and flamboyant characters?

^ Agreed. Plus Amy Adams is 37. Not that big of a difference if you ask me.

I enjoy that schtick, but I haven't seen him play anything but in at least 15 years.

Who's Tony Randall?

I think Denis O'Hare is a great choice. He's very much the same type as Mark Hadfield, who played the Baker in the London production, so I assume they're going for the same relationship dynamic between the Baker and the Baker's Wife.
Denis is a fantastic actor and it'll be nice to see him play a character that isn't a villain for once.

Not can't get women pregnant- it just gets more difficult with age- just because Tony Randall was a stud doesn't mean all men are that lucky folks.
I think they should get Stritch to play Little Red. Or at least Christine Pedi as Stritch

I think you need to relearn your biology. It's really not difficult at all for 50 year old men, whose family trees have not been cursed by a neighborhood witch, to impregnate a woman.
As for these apparent limitations people imagine he has as an actor, did you see "An Illiad"?
I saw him do a reading of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" and he was perfect.

Prince Dauntless seems a lot younger too, but Denis played him. Maybe not very well, but he played him.
