I'm excited about Rebecca. I remember she said in a Conan interview that she and Hugh used to sing show tunes on the set of the X-Men movies.
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter
I hate to be like my username, but I just don't feel the excitement for this production. I was so excited for last years Hairspray, and the casting just made it even more exciting. Nothing about this interests me. I did, however, buy tickets to see Barry Manilow on the 4th of July- now THAT is entertainment
"I never had theatre producers run after me. Some people want to make more Broadway shows out of movies. But Elliot and I aren't going to do Batman: The Musical." - Julie Taymor 1999
Same here, last I wet my pants with Joy over Hairspray, this is kinda whatever. But I will still most likely grab a ticket, just the cheapest I can find!
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist.
Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino.
This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more.

Thrilled to see Gary and Roger reprise their roles... This is probably one of the last times you'll get to see Beach do DeBris full out doing the Stroman staging (only because he's in semi-retirement and not quite as physically agile as he was 10 years ago...)
I'm thinking they'll get a real name for Franz - some classic stunt casting. I could see Eric Stonestreet knocking it out of the park...it would seem a likely casting choice with JTF involved.
Or maybe Will Ferrell . That would bring the white trash in. In general I don't think the normal theater crowd here has any interest in this. I do like JTF.
Chris Parnell Eric Stonestreet Nathan Lane Taran Killam Jon Hamm (if we're getting absolutely unrealistic)
Really, this is a part that lends itself way more to a comic actor who sings a bit, like Will Ferrell, than to a Broadway type per se. All of Franz's singing and dancing is based more on sheer audacity and determination than on any actual talent or tunefulness.
I find Romjin the most interesting casting here. Ferguson is pretty perfect.
Next year at Hollywood Bowl I wanna see "Legally Blonde" - STUFFED with pop stars. I'm talking Carrie Underwood as Elle, Nicole Scherzinger as Vivienne, Usher as Warner, Tony Bennett as Professor Callahan...
as ridiculous as it sounds, i would have no CHOICE but to fly out to LA for that ****.
But seriously, isn't THAT what Hollywood Bowl should be - ridiculously awesome star casting due to the short commitment? Not the same old "Producers", with the same director, and mostly the same cast?
Yeah, exactly what I meant in my comment about Bart and Beach (and also Kind). While we all know they are great and will be great, this is not the production to be casting the same ol' people. Make some interesting choices. Cast Hollywood people who we wouldn't see in a full, longer term production of the show. Make it different.
I felt the same way about Harvey Fierstein being cast last year. Love the man, he is absolutely talented and a fantastic Edna...but for crying out loud, that should have been Eric Stonestreet, if you ask me.
be interesting to see who's in the ensemble and how many people Stroman casts that did the Broadway or national tour.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Kind's performance of Bialystock is boring and exactly what you would picture it being. I wish they would have really tried to get someone NEW for Bialystock more than anyone. Brent Spiner, Patton Oswalt...
I think Jesse Tyler Ferguson is perfect for Leo! Very excited for him.
Romijn was a huge surprise, but a cool one. Can't wait to see how she does!
I knew Roger was coming back to play Carmen, but I thought there was NO way Gary would come back... as mentioned before, he's not in the same physical shape he was in back during the B'way run. Lately, he's been playing Horace in regional productions of Hello, Dolly!... Still, they're both amazing, and it'll be fun to see them again.
I'd love to see someone like Denis O'Hare play Franz. He's enough of a name, with his True Blood fame, right?
Much like others have posted, I'm just not feeling this one either. Love the show. I am just not feeling the buzz. I'm not sure how I feel about Jesse Tyler Ferguson for Leo. My first reaction was "No." I love the guy. I just don't see him in the role. I guess time will tell. I love that Bart and Beach are returning.
