How long has BroadwayWorld been around? |
BWW has been around for millennia, just in different forms. Archaeologists in Greece recently discovered tablets with etchings criticizing Aristophanes, and the tablets were signed 'PalJoey'.

It looks like we joined the message board on the same date. I remember that a number of us transferred from the defunct Broadway.com message board.

A couple people have join dates of 5/13/03. I think that might be the very first date. Not sure, though. I joined when Craig posted on ATC about the new site/board. Back then there wasn't an OT board.

Thanks for the info. I couldn't even recall how I found this but makes sense if it was posted on another board.
And Happy Anniversary to bdwaygirl and jo as well. :)
As of last week I have stopped visiting/posting to ATC

Follow up question. When is the site getting a facelift. Love the messageboard. Love a lot of the web features/videos, but the overall design is an overwhelming, crowded cluster****.
Rob's join date is 5/3/03

It just GOT a facelift...within the last month or two...just cosmetic.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
When is the site getting a facelift.
I think the latest upgrade was considered a facelift. I agree it's still cluttered (and honestly, except for some font changes it looks the same to me), but I wouldn't expect any sort of overhaul to the site.

Maybe it is just my eyesight but I do have a harder time seeing which posts I have read and which I haven't. The shades of red are hard to decipher.

Would someone post the very first post...reply to a post..that sort of thing? Just curious...from RC in Austin, Texas
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
Wow, I had never realized I was one of the earliest members here ! How time flies !!! But I'm SO happy that, during my 3 visits to NYC in 2003, 2004 and especially 2008, I met some wonderful, amazing people from here, who I'm still in contact with and consider great friends !!! Not to mention that when I met Matt Morrison in 2008, he KNEW who I was and thanked me for defending him in "the boards" !!!!

Happy anniversary to us ancient Broadway Legends that are still kicking. And a moment of silence to those who are no longer with us. RIP MargoChanning.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I would be celebrating my anniversary with all the other 5/15 people, but I was in London that year and didn't get back to the States until the 20th.

Awww, MargoChanning... What a fantastic, wonderful human being ! Always kind, gentle-spoken, nice and with an amazing amount of Broadway knowledge, always ready to share. RIP
I found the board googling 'homoerotic dolphins." Really.

That wayback archive is fascinating. I just read a thread from 2003 where people were predicting that WICKED would be a huge flop and close as quickly as Dance of the Vampires.
Wow LizzieCurry, I felt like Emily in Our Town when I looked at that website.

I think I found BWW mentioned in the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit now on display at the Franklin Inst.Philly.
Much to the ridicule of a few, I've been a BWW staff writer since 2005. Or as my fur lovin' friend Namo deemed me BWW's "brest witer", which DP and Lizzy will lament about my appalling writing skills. Nonetheless, I remain a BWW supporter/writer.
Cheers to Rob & Co. for rising to the top of the theater media/info. world

Wow, time does fly. I've been around for nearly 7 years. I was much more active as a teen (in the days of MargoChanning at that really fun chat room). Anyway, I still enjoy reading thoughts and such, but have sort of drifted from the active conversation on a daily basis. Interesting how life changes things. But in the end, I really do cherish this Internet Message Board space, and I mean that in a way that is not pandering or cliche (despite such sentences being so).
How to properly use its/it's:
Its is the possessive. It's is the contraction for it is...
