I was looking at getting one of the $25 Balcony seats for Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, but I had heard that last balcony is very high and steep - anyone ever sat up there in those cheap seats? How was the view?

The side $25 seats in the front balcony are awesome.

The last few rows are awful. Dizzyingly steep, and you're so far away, you might as well be watching a show at Yankee Stadium. I sat there once, and never again.

The last few rows were absolutely atrocious BEFORE the renovation. The view is supposed to be better now, as rows were taken out, etc.

I sat in the front and it was perfect. I did go up to the back while I was there and while it isn't nearly as bad as it was, I still don't love the view (or lack thereof). The rake is still kind of steep, although it seems less claustrophobic than I remember.

My advice-if it's in the first few rows, go for it.

I've sat up there many times before the renovation. It wasn't bad (considering what you've paid) but I might suggest you bring opera glasses.

Ah yes, I haven't been in there post-renovation. My bad experience was during "Applause."

I sat in Row D of the balcony, extreme right side, the other night at PIPE DREAM, and the view was great. All you miss is a little bit of the dock scenery on the side. Definitely worth it.

The sightlines and leg room are much better post-renovation. That said, it's still very high and far away, so you're going to miss a lot of facial expressions.

After the rennov, great. We always scooted down from our rear bacl to the front balc (discreetly, of course). Seats are actually comfortable now, and plenty of leg room. Yay.

I'm in the process of getting $25 tickets for Songs for New World and I'm torn between front row of the balcony off to the side or row B of the mezz off to the side? Does anyone have any insight? I've never attended something at City Center before. Thank you!

Thank you, uncageg! You're referring to the balcony, right?

Yes. It also appears that they only sell certain seats on the sides about 11 or 13 seats in. I could be wrong but it appears to be the case when i got my  SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD tix. The next seat over from mine was higher priced.

You can't see any of the rear projections -- which usually doesn't matter, but  can be helpful for understanding location of scenes, especially since Encores tend to be more "concert" versions of shows anyway. It was also very annoying during Sunday in the Park with George, since you didn't really get to see them "build" the painting.

That was not a problem at all when I saw MERRILY. However, it is the only show i have attended there so far.

Dying to know who will be cast for SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD.

If you like watching tiny little ants run around a stage, this is the perfect view.
