The woman Limbaugh was abusing received a personal phone call from President Obama expressing his support for her.

I think you can really separate out Limbaugh's comments from any sort of actual politics on contraception. (Not that that isn't also infuriating.) It's this kind of rhetoric attacking female independence, dignity, and sexuality that perpetuates objectification and violence upon women. It doesn't even matter what political point he's trying to make. For me, this really just comes down to the damaging violence of misogyny. I don't usually post political stuff on my FB, but I posted this, because, IMO, it's not even political. It's about basic ethics of respectful discourse and treatment of women.

That is fantastic that Obama called her, though. Has that been mentioned in an article somewhere, madbrian?

I'll go out on a limb and make a guess that Miss Callista Bisek, the devout Catholic, was practicing contraception when she was having her extramarital affair with the married Speaker of the House (who was pontificating on the morals of Bill Clinton).

Michael Steel last night and other Limbaugh defenders are playing the old, 'Hey, he is just an entertainer' card again. Lets see. Rush has been married 4 times now. He has dated women between marriages as well and its odd, but he has no children. Isn't that weird? Four wives and no children? I would guess some, if not all the ex Mrs. Limbaugh's at the time practiced some sort of birth control. Well, either that or El Rushbo can't get it up (or is shooting blanks)

His sponsors need to be contacted and Republican women should really speak out.

I didn't realize that the amount of birth control pills a woman needs is dependent on how much sex she has. Thank god Rush is around to explain these things. I wonder why Rush needed all that Viagra on that trip to the Dominican Republic!

As a moderate left winger myself, I find that the fact that every word this idiotic windbag says is picked up by the LEFT Media, thus amplifying it's "significance" (NOT) exponentially, is LUDICROUS. Why report on these unimportant rants anyway. If one listens to Limbaugh on the radio, fine - but LEFT Wing, STOP already. There is NOTHING newsworthy about what he says. And as a woman, I just ignore ignorant rantings - women and all others who know themselves do NOT have to give creedance to this BS by giving "opposing" viewpoints. Power to the lib pundits, but I find it somewhat demeaning to even "answer" these idiotic comments. All normal compassionate, thinking people don't give a rat's ass about giving Limbaugh all this press (Only the media that needs ratings.). Must be a slow news day Just sayin'....

My theory on why this is picked up by the media (left or right wing) is it sells. It is outrageous and jaw dropping and this is how these pundits and shock jocks get attention these days. There was a guy back in the 80's who my Dad loved watching. He hated the guy and thought he was a moron but was so entertained by how nuts he was, he tuned in. The mans name was Morton Downey jr and I remember as a kid watching this show with my Dad. We laughed our butts off watching this idiot. Well, crazy sells. This is how we have Glen Beck, Michael Savage, Ann Coulter and so on.

Since the GOP fears Limbaugh and is afraid to cross him, the Dems will take every opportunity to force them to stand with him or against him. Last I heard, the closest any GOP leader came to standing against him was when Boehner called his comments 'inappropriate'.

People do understand that the basic argument is not about being against contraception, it is about WHO should have to pay for it. Why should my insurance premiums go up so that insurance companies can cover Sandra Fluke's RECREATIONAL sex? I am sure Mr. Limbaugh has plenty of sex, but he isn't asking all of us to pay for his rubbers!
